Quadruple Up for Panetti; Double Knockout for Azor

Level 9 : 1,200/2,500, 2,500 ante
Christophe Panetti
Christophe Panetti

A rather unusual four-way all-in emerged and Christophe Panetti was the shortest stack for 61,400, while Ran Azor had Miltiadis Kyriakides and Ahadpur Khangah covered.

Christophe Panetti: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Miltiadis Kyriakides: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Ahadpur Khangah: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Ran Azor: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop vaulted Azor into the lead but Panetti found some magic on the {7-Diamonds} turn. Nothing changed with the {9-Spades} river and Panetti quadrupled up while Azor claimed the remaining chips of Kyriakides and Khangah.

Chan Busts to Quads

Level 9 : 1,200/2,500, 2,500 ante

Matthieu Chan was on the way out of the tournament area and had snapped a picture of his final hand. He had gotten it in via four-bet shove with the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} and three-bettor Kasparas Klezys called with the {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}. Not one but both remaining queens showed up right in the window as Chan hit the rail with a bad beat story to tell.

Klezys confirmed the story and now also sits on a very playable stack for Day 2 as well.

Toksoy Eliminated by Mirzaei

Level 9 : 1,200/2,500, 2,500 ante
Osman Toksoy
Osman Toksoy

On a flop of {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, Osman Toksoy moved all-in and was quickly called by Meraj Mirzaei with the covering stack.

Toksoy tabled {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} but was already trailing versus {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. The board completed with the {3-Diamonds} turn and {3-Hearts} river to eliminate Toksoy in the final level of the night.

No Call for Leantzis

Level 9 : 1,200/2,500, 2,500 ante

Andrea Ricci opened and Matas Cimbolas then three-bet to 14,000. Christos Leantzis moved all-in for exactly 66,600 and Ricci folded, admitting he made a big fold. Cimbolas also let go and was then told my Ricci that he would have faced the shove if Leantzis had folded.

As the pot was pushed to Leantzis, the dealer joked "if you can now show pocket sixes, that would be the perfect timing" but Leantzis simply mucked the cards.

Yukselir Jams Into Egilli

Level 8 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Heads-up to the {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop, Umut Yukselir checked his option out of the blinds and big stack Suat Egilli made it 5,500 to go. Yukselir then check-raised to 12,000 for Egilli to call. The {3-Diamonds} fell on the turn and Yukselir moved all-in almost immediately for 54,400. Egilli was sent into the tank for a good minute and let go.

Bedir Doubles Back Through Masca

Level 8 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Selahaddin Bedir
Selahaddin Bedir

There was some knuckling on the table by Dmitry Gromov and as the live reporting team arrived, Ioan-Matei Masca had to fork over 138,500 already. His {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} had made the nut flush on the {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} board but it still was no good. Selahaddin Bedir had rivered a full house with the {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} and scored a big double.

"I gave you back the chips, now we are even" Masca joked in chat as both players essentially traded stack sizes.

With this double, Bedir's roller coaster ride continues as he joined the big stacks once more.
