Ganzfried Gets Gross River Fold

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Samuel Ganzfried
Samuel Ganzfried

Jeffrey Gross raised to 22,000 from the hijack only to have Sam Ganzfried three-bet to 66,000 from the cutoff.

The button and blinds all folded, Gross called, and the flop came down {6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, which both players checked.

After the dealer burned and turned the {2-Spades} to pair the board, Gross checked and Ganfried bet 52,000.

Gross, who had about 200K back, opted to call and then checked for the third time on the {j-Diamonds} river.

Ganzfried bet again, this time 50,000, and Gross wasted little time in folding.

Marder Over Seven Figures

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Michael Marder
Michael Marder

The player on the button opened for 23,000 and Michael Marder called from the small blind. Justin Huff came along from the big blind and it was three-way action to the flop.

Flop: {q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}

Both Marder and Huff checked and the button continued for 31,000.

Marder didn't take long to wake up with a check-raise to 90,000 and that did the trick as both Huff and the original raiser released their hands.

Marder has been chipping up significantly on Day 2 and is one of only a few players over seven figures.

A Look Back at the Parx Big Stax XXXII 500 Event

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Joel Deutsch
Joel Deutsch

Last weekend, the heads-up match for the Parx Big Stax 500 Championship, a tournament that attracted 1,496 entrants, began with Joel Deutsch facing a 52-million to seven-million chip deficit against Kenny Huynh. It ended, after a 19-hour day, with Deutsch coming out on top after a heads-up battle for the ages.

Deutsch rode the rollercoaster and staved off elimination multiple times over a two-hour match, scoring a $126,995 payday at the end of a grueling final day at Parx Casino in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

Deustch was short stacked for most of three-handed play and beyond, but came away with the biggest score of his career.

Deutsch, Huynh (2nd - $80,298), and Bosu Avunoori (3rd - $52,300) were the final three, with Huynh and Avunoori holding most of the chips. In a span of one big hand, followed by another final duel between Huynh and Avunoori, and heads-up play was set.

"I had nothing to lose," said Deutsch of the heads-up battle. "I'm thinking one thing; I've got second place. I didn't picture this."

Deutsch chipped away at the lead and won a couple of big pots, at one point he avoided elimination with jack-ten offsuit in a preflop all in against Huynh's ace-jack.

"It kept getting better from there," said Deutsch. "I really got some momentum going."

Another Round of Chip Counts

Pahuja is King

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Mukul Pahuja
Mukul Pahuja

Mukul Pahuja got his stack of 178,000 all in preflop and was in prime shape to double through Rob Calabrese.

Mukul Pahuja: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Rob Calabrese: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} all-heart flop was safe enough given neither player had a heart in their hand, but the {9-Spades} turn did give Calabrese more outs as he picked up a gutshot straight draw.

Fortunately for Pahuja, the safe {q-Diamonds} peeled off on the river and he score the double.

Loffreno Dispatches Parx Poker Ambassador

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Esther Taylor
Esther Taylor

After the under-the-gun player raised to 18,000, Parx Poker Ambassador Esther Taylor, who late registered on Day 2, called off her last 15,000. Matt McGuire called from the hijack, Frank Loffreno did the same from the button, and the big blind made it four active players to the {3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop.

"This is a good spot for me," Taylor said before the three cards were spread. Indeed, she had a chance to turn her paltry stack into high five figures if she could come out the victor.

The big blind checked, as did the original raiser, and McGuire bet 15,000. Loffreno called, the big blind folded, and the UTG player came along to see the {2-Hearts} turn.

Two checks saw Loffreno bet 80,000 and that chased out his opponents.

Esther Taylor: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Loffreno: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

Taylor was looking for either a king or queen, but it wasn't in the cards as the {5-Hearts} bricked on the river.

Superior Pocket Pair Holds for Calabrese

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Rob Calabrese
Rob Calabrese

Sam Biery moved all in under the gun for 135,000 and action folded to Rob Calabrese, who jammed all in over the top from the button. Both blinds folded and the cards were turned on their backs.

Rob Calabrese: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Sam Biery: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

The board ran out {7-Spades}{a-Spades}{2-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} and Calabrese wound up improving to a flush to send Biery to the rail.
