Wood Stronger Than Steel

Praz Bansi opened from middle position to 60,000. Chase Steely was in the cutoff seat and reraised to 152,000. Action folded over to Luc Greenwood in the big blind and he went into the tank. After a minute of thought, he moved in. Bansi folded and then Steely mucked as well.

Greenwood scooped the chips preflop and increased to 700,000. Steely slipped to 850,000.

Big Stacks Tango

John Duthie
John Duthie
In what was a battle of big stacks, Harrison Gimbel just took about 400,000 worth of chips from fellow top dawg John Duthie.

Duthie opened the pot with a raise to 55,000 from the cutoff and Gimbel three-bet to 160,000 from the button. Duthie made the call and the two went heads-up to an {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop.

Duthie then led out with a 230,000 bet and Gimbel made the call sending the action to the turn -- {10-Diamonds} -- where both players checked.

5th Street delivered the {3-Hearts} and Duthie check-folded to a 600,000 river bet from Gimbel, surrendering the hand.

Chip counts after the hand were as follows:

Duthie: 2.2 million
Gimbel 2.9 million

Baked: Amanda Baker Eliminated in 38th Place ($59,000)

Amanda Baker -- the last woman standing in the tournament -- has just been eliminated by former chip leader Praz Bansi.

Bansi opened the pot with a raise from middle position and action folded around the table to Baker in the big blind who moved all in over the top for about 290,000. Bansi made the call and tabled a pocket pair of aces, having Baker's {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} in very bad shape.

The ensuing board filled out {K-Clubs}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades}{9-Spades} and Bansi's aces held, eliminating Baker from the tournament.

Bansi stacked up 1.85 million in chips after the hand.

Bump, Set, Spike

We caught up to the hand on the flop with the board showing {2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Tom Koral checked to Benjamin Zamani who fired a 49,000 bet. Koral then check-raised to 150,000 and Zamani made the call.

The {J-Spades} fell on the turn and Koral fired a T230,000 bullet. Zamani called again, bringing the action to the river -- {10-Hearts}.

Koral fired his biggest bet of the hand on the end, making it a pricey T380,000 for Zamani to send the hand to a showdown. Zamani opted to make the call and Koral tabled a pocket pair of fives for a set to win the hand. Zamani never showed his cards.

After the hand, Koral stacked up 1.9 million in chips while Zamani fell to 600,000.

Cesar Dominguez Eliminated in 39th Place ($59,000)

A short-stacked Cesar Dominguez moved all in before the flop and when the action reached Dimitri Hefter on the button, he reshoved prompting both blinds to fold.

At the showdown, Dominguez found himself way behind, holding {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} against Hefter's pocket queens.

Hefter spiked a third queen on the flop and completed a full house on the turn to send Dominguez to the rail in 39th place.

Josh Bergman-Turnbull Eliminated in 40th Place ($59,000)

Josh Bergman-Turnbull has just been eliminated from the main event by Damien Rony.

Bergman-Turnbull got it all in preflop holding pocket nines against Rony's pocket queens. Rony managed to spike a third queen after the flop came {7-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, pretty much sealing the deal right then and there. The turn and river filled out {6-Clubs}, {K-Clubs} and Bergman-Turnbull found himself out in 40th place.

Rony, meanwhile, is now sitting with just under 1.2 million in chips.

Karp Doubles Again

Aaron E. Jones raised to 62,000 from middle position and then Praz Bansi reraised to 160,000 from the cutoff seat. Ryan Karp moved all in from the big blind fresh of his double up from Amanda Baker. Jones folded, but Bansi made the call.

Bansi held pocket jacks, but Karp's queens were best going to the flop.

The board ran out {9-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {3-Spades} {6-Diamonds} and Karp doubled for the second hand in a row. He's now approaching 700,000 chips.

Baker's Big Slick Cooked

Amanda baker has seen her stack dwindle down as of late. Just recently, she reshoved after Ryan Karp moved all in for about 150,000. Everyone else got out of the way and it was Baker versus Karp. Karp held {J-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} against Baker's {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}.

Karp flopped a pair of tens and the board ran out {10-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} to double him up to 300,000. Baker was left with 360,000.
