Alaei Can't Call

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

We picked up the action on the turn as the board showed {3-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts}. Daniel Alaei was heads up, and he check-called a bet of 19,200 from his opponent.

That brought them to the {Q-Clubs} river, and Alaei's opponent fired 44,000 at the pot. That sent Daniel deep into the think tank for a few long minutes as he stared down the man across the table. Alaei eventually double-tapped his iPod and paused the music he had been listening to, cutting down his chips and eying up the potential damage to his stack. After another few minutes, he surrendered, dropping to about 160,000.

Spadavecchia Races for PCA Life

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 200 ante

John Spadavecchia was all in with {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} against the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} of Seat 1 in a pot worth right around 175,000. Spectators gathered around the table to watch the race as the dealer put out a {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop. Spadavecchia picked up a straight but was still looking to improve. The {3-Spades} on the turn was no help, but Spadavecchia slapped the table in celebration when the {K-Spades} peeled off on the river. Seat 1 was clearly dejected and Spadavecchia was all smiles stacking his newly won chips.
