Herring Eliminated

Heath Herring (Day 1b)
Heath Herring (Day 1b)

After Team PokerStars Pro Christian De Leon raised to 5,000 from under the gun, action folded to Heath Herring in the big blind and he reraised all in. Herring was down to his last 8,000 or so and De Leon made the quick and cheap call.

Herring: {Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
De Leon: {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

The flop, turn and river ran out {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and De Leon made a flush to eliminate Herring.

Julius Gets There

Ryan Julius opened in late position, a short-stacked opponent three-bet shoved near the button, and the action folded back to Julius, who called.

Showdown
Julius: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Julius was behind, but the {4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop gave him eight extra outs to a flush. The {10-Diamonds} on the turn gave him a pair, adding two more outs, and the river was another ten - the {10-Hearts}.

Julius recorded the knockout, and is now up to 178,000 chips.

Ramdin Runs Kings Into Aces

Max Leonhard and Victor Ramdin just went to war in a big preflop clash. Ramdin started the action with a raise to 4,500, and Leonhard popped it back to 11,000 total. Ramdin was undeterred, though, and he four-bet to 31,000 total. Leonhard made it 90,000, Ramdin shoved for about 105,000 total, and the cards were on their backs.

Showdown
Ramdin: {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}
Leonhard: {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}

There was paint on the river, but it was the wrong member of the royal family for the gregarious Team PokerStars Pro. The board ran out {9-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {J-Spades}, and Ramdin has been run out here with about 250 players left.

Can You Feel It?

Phil Collins opened from the cutoff seat, a player in the small blind three-bet to 14,000, and Collins four-bet to 30,000. His opponent called. Both players knuckled after the flop fell {q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, and the player in the small blind checked a second time after the {5-Spades} turned. Collins reached for his stack, and tossed out a measly 6,500-chip bet. His opponent snap-called.

The river was the {k-Spades}, the player in the small blind checked a third time, and Collins slid out 35,500. His opponent tank-folded, and the 2011 November Niner raked in the pot.

Rheem Comes from Behind to Bust One

From early position, Chino Rheem raised to 5,000. Shawn Buchanan called from the hijack seat and action folded to the player in the big blind. The big blind reraised all in for about 45,000. Rheem called and Buchanan folded.

Rheem: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Opponent: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The flop came down {6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs} and put Rheem in the lead with a set of sixes. The turn was the {9-Hearts} and river the {J-Hearts}. Rheem's set was best and he won the pot to move to 295,000, eliminating his opponent in the process.

Jaka Over 700K

From under the gun, Manny Jo raised to 5,000. Faraz Jaka called from the cutoff seat and Shawn Buchanan called from the big blind. The flop produced the {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Buchanan checked. Jo bet 11,000 and Jaka called. Buchanan folded.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and Jo checked. Jaka pounced with a bet of 18,000 and Jo made the call to see the {A-Spades} land on the river. Jo checked again. Jaka fired 47,000 and Jo gave it up, allowing Jaka to win the hand and move to over 700,000 in chips.

Even More for Jaka

Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka

From middle position, Faraz Jaka raised to 5,100 and was called by Chino Rheem in the hijack seat and Manny Jo in the small blind. The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and Jo checked. Jaka bet 8,500 and Rheem made the call. Jo folded.

The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and both Jaka and Rheem checked to see the {2-Spades} pair the board on the river. Jaka checked and Rheem bet 16,000. Jaka took a few moments, then made the call.

Jaka tabled the {Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and Rheem couldn't beat it, tossing his hand into the muck. Jaka now has over 750,000 while Rheem was knocked back to just about one third that amount.

Gimbel Gaining Ground

With the table folding around to the button, a player we don't recognize opened the pot to 5,200. Harrison Gimbel was in the small blind, and he three-bet to 9,800, but the button popped it right back to 25,400 total. After studying for about a minute, Gimbel shoved in, and Mr. Button was put to the test for his last ~125,000 chips. He spent a few long minutes agonizing in the tank, then open-mucked his {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} to send the pot to Gimbel.

The 2010 champion of this event is doing quite well here on this Day 2, up now over the 300,000-chip mark.
