River Saves Julius

Jan Heitmann opened to 16,000 on the button, Ryan Julius moved all in for 128,000 from the big blind, and Heitmann made the call.

Showdown
Heitmann: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Julius: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The {5-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop gave both players a pair, but Heitmann's hand was still best. The players traded outs when the {a-Diamonds} turned, and the {10-Clubs} fell on the river, giving Julius trip tens. He doubled to 267,000 chips, while Heitmann is down to just 275,000.

King-High is No Good

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Anthony Gregg opened for a raise in the hijack seat, and was met with a three-bet from Jan Heitmann in the small blind. Gregg called.

The flop fell {7-Hearts}{q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, and Heitmann continued for 53,000. Gregg quickly called, and both players checked on the turn ({a-Hearts}), and the river ({2-Spades}).

"King-high," Heitmann announced.

Gregg tabled {7-Spades}{6-Spades} for a pair of sixes, Heitmann mucked, and Gregg took down another pot.

Peters Tripple Barrels

In a raised pot, David Peters and Thomas Gabriel saw a flop of {j-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Gabriel checked, Peters tossed out 21,000, and Gabriel called.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds}, and Gabriel checked again. Peters continued his story, firing 33,000, and Gabriel tank-called. The {4-Spades} completed the board, and Gabriel checked a third and final time. Peters paused, then fired a third bullet worth 86,000. Gabriel tanked, staring Peters down, but opted not to call.

Peters' stack ballooned to 460,000, while Gabriel slipped to 405,000.

Reynolds Double Through Hall

William Reynolds
William Reynolds

Last year's PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event champion Galen Hall flatted a cutoff raise from the button before William Reynolds reraised all in for 156,000 from the big blind. The original raiser folded, but Hall made the call to put Reynolds at risk.

Reynolds was all in with the {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} and in very good shape to earn that double against Hall's {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}.

No help came for Hall on the {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} board and he doubled Reynolds up.

Smith Smashed

Daniel Schmieding raised to an unknown amount and Elliot Smith reraised all in for 94,000 more. Schmieding made the call. He held the {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and Smith the {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}.

The flop contained an ace with the {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} coming down and Smith fell behind. The turn was the {4-Hearts} and river the {9-Spades}. Despite holding a dominating lead going into the flop, Smith fell behind and was left in the dust.

Jacks Earn Sabat a Double to 600K

From the hijack seat, Eddy Sabat raised to 18,000 to kick off the action. After the player in the cutoff seat made the call, action folded over to Corey Burbick in the big blind. Burbick took his time and reraised to 63,000. The decision was now back to Sabat. He tanked for a bit and then reraised all in for 287,000. The cutoff seat folded and Burbick quickly made the call.

Sabat tabled the {J-Clubs}{J-Spades} and was flipping for his tournament life against the {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} for Burbick.

The flop produced the {J-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Sabat nailed a set of jacks. Burbick was in need of runner-runner in order to pull this one out, but after the {8-Hearts} came on the turn, it was all over and Sabat had secured his double. The {7-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Massive Pot for Alafogiannis

Nikolaos Alafogiannis led out for 68,000 with the board reading {10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, and Brian England tank-called. The river was the {8-Spades}, and Alafogiannis led again - this time for 96,000. England moved all in for effectively 257,000, and Alafogiannis tank-called, putting himself at risk.

England turned over {k-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a rivered two pair, but Alafogiannis spiked {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} on the table for a winning set of tens. England muttered a few adult words after the hand, and is left with only 46,000 chips.
