Seidel Puts the Hurt on Negreanu

We just caught the tail end of the pot, walking up as the board showed {4-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}. There was just more than 200,000 in the pot, and Daniel Negreanu had checked. Erik Seidel was the other man in the pot, and he put out a bet of 80,000. It looked like a smallish bet, but it probably didn't seem so to Negreanu, who only had about 90,000 chips left.

After a couple minutes, Negreanu folded, and Seidel stacked the pot to move up over the 400,000-chip mark.

Katchalov Tank-Folds

Eugene Katchalov raised to 3,500 on the button and was called by Justin Smith in the small blind and Alexey Repik in the big blind.

The flop fell {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts} and the blinds checked to Katchalov. The Team PokerStars Pro bet 7,000, but saw Smith pop it to 20,000. Repik folded, Katchalov called, and the {J-Spades} hit the turn. Smith bet 35,000, but Katchalov came along to see the {2-Spades} river.

Smith took a few moments before announcing all in, sending Katchalov into the tank. About four minutes passed before he opted to give it up.

Kobe!

Sam "KingKobeMVP" Stein opened to 4,000 from middle position, and Isaac Haxton three-bet to 13,000 from the cutoff seat. The action folded back to Stein who tank-called, and the flop fell {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{a-Spades}. Both players checked.

The turn was the {5-Clubs}, the two checked again, and the {6-Spades} completed the board. Stein checked a third time, prompting Haxton to fire 21,500. Stein tanked, reached for his stack, and plopped a handful of chips in front of him. Haxton adjusted his Beats By Dre, exposing one ear.

"How much?" he asked the dealer.

"Sixty-seven thousand," she responded immediately.

Haxton screwed his face into a scowl, and made a crying call. Stein triumphantly turned over {a-Hearts}{10-Spades} for trip aces, and Haxton mucked his hand.

No Juice on Re-Entries

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Everyone's been informed that the $1,500 tournament fee does not apply to re-entries. That means Jonathan Duhamel got a slight discount at $98,500 for a second chance.

More For Haxton

Philipp Gruissem opened to 4,000 and was called by Bertrand Grospellier (cutoff), Sam Stein (small blind), and Isaac Haxton (big blind).

The flop came down {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades} and it was checked to Grospellier who bet 8,800. Stein ducked out of the way, but Haxton popped it to 32,000. Gruissem folded, but Grospellier called to see the {3-Spades} turn. Haxton bet 60,000, resulting in an "ElkY" fold.

Hall and Perkins Having Fun

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

From the button, 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure champion Galen Hall raised to 4,000. Bill Perkins called from the small blind and the flop came down {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Spades}. Perkins checked and Hall bet 2,300.

"Is that a small bet to get me to reraise so you can reraise me?" asked Perkins with a smile. "All right, I raise," he then said and tossed out a blue T5,000 chip. "Now you're supposed to reraise." Hall just called, though.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and Perkins bet 10,000. Hall called.

The river was the {6-Spades} and Perkins had checked dark. Hall checked behind.

"I've... got... nothing!" exclaimed Perkins.

"I've got the bottom of all pairs," responded Hall as he showed the {Q-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Perkins showed the losing {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and Hall was pushed the pot.

Six-Bet Shove from Kornuth

From under the gun, Chance Kornuth raised to 4,000. In the next seat, Tom Marchese three-bet to 11,000 and then play folded to Bill Perkins in the big blind. He made the call. Kornuth took a minute or so and then four-bet to 34,000. Marchese didn't back down from there, firing back with a five-bet to 57,000. Perkins mucked and Kornuth reraised all in for around 200,000. Marchese quickly folded and Kornuth won the pot.

Last Aggressor

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Masa Kagawa opened to 4,000 on the button, Jason Mercier defended his big blind, and the flop came down {7-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Mercier checked, Kagawa continued for 5,500, and Mercier called.

The turn was the suicide king ({k-Hearts}), and both players checked. The {q-Spades} on the river completed the board, and both players checked again, but nobody turned their cards over.

"You show first," Mercier blurted.

Kagawa flashed a card, which we unfortunately missed, and mucked his hand. Mercier turned over {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for ace-high, and won the pot. After the hand, a floor person was called over and asked who has to show first: the last aggressor or the player out of position? The floor person confirmed Mercier's statement, saying that the first player to show is the last aggressor.

Now we know, and knowing is half the battle.

Shak Attacks

We only saw the final betting actions in this hand, walking up to a river that put {5-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} on the board. There was about 130,000 in the pot, and Dan Shak shoved in for 134,300. He was up against Philipp Gruissem, and Gruissem cut the calling chips from his stack to eye up the potential damage. A call would have left him with about 65,000 chips if he lost, and he spent a minute or two pondering.

"You wanna rebuy?" Gruissem eventually piped up, smirking at his own question. Shak didn't flinch, and he eventually earned the pot with a Gruissem fold.
