Marchese Out in 17th

Tom Marchese won't like the result; he's out
Tom Marchese won't like the result; he's out

On the first hand of the new level and just one hand after his double through Isaac Haxton, Tom Marchese was eliminated after getting his money in against Viktor Blom.

Action folded to Marchese in the small blind and he raised all in for 142,000. Blom called from the big blind holding the {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Marchese held the {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Blom added a set to really close the door on Marchese. The turn {J-Clubs} ended things before the {7-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Marchese Doubles Through Haxton

On the last hand of the level, Jason Mercier raised to 12,000 from the hijack seat. Isaac Haxton called from the button and Tom Marchese reraised all in from the big blind for 61,000. Mercier folded, but Haxton called.

Haxton: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
Marchese: {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}

The board ran out {8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{A-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Marchese spiked an ace on the turn to double up.

A Better Full House for Haxton

Isaac Haxton opened to 16,000 from under the gun, Viktor Blom called on the button and Galen Hall called from the big blind.

The flop came down {K-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Hall checked. Haxton bet 38,000 and Blom called. Hall folded.

The turn was the {K-Hearts} and Haxton checked. Blom fired 86,000 and Haxton made the call.

The river was the {3-Diamonds} to put a full house on board. Haxton and Blom both checked.

Haxton showed the {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} with a better full house than the one on board, kings over threes. Blom mucked and Haxton won the pot.

Seiver Stands His Ground

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Scott Seiver
Scott Seiver

From the cutoff seat, Mike McDonald opened to 14,000, and Scott Seiver flatted next door on the button. In the big blind, Erik Seidel squeezed in a reraise to 50,000 total. That folded McDonald out of the way, but Seiver plucked the calling chips off his stack and dropped them into the pot.

The flop brought {4-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}, and Seiver called Seidel's 75,000-chip continuation bet. The {5-Spades} dropped on the turn, and Seidel wasn't slowing down now. He put out another 160,000 chips, and Seiver looked a bit distraught as he tanked and called off a significant chunk of his remaining stack.

The scary {8-Clubs} completed the board, and Seidel didn't bother to hide his uncertainty. He shifted in his chair and scratched at his bottom lip as he started down longingly at the board. At one point, he let out a big, telling sigh of confusion, then went back to the lip-scratching and board-staring. After a few long minutes, he checked, and Seiver checked it right back with a sigh of relief.

Seidel could only show down {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} for ace-high, and Seiver's {K-} {Q-} earned him a nice chip-up.

After the hand, the two men chatted for a bit about what had just transpired. "That was a gift, not a bluff," Seidel said with a smirk. "At least, fourth street was a special gift."

"That was a good first level," Seiver surmised as he stacked up the pot. He's got to be close to 700,000 now, but we'll have to wait a moment to get a better count than that.

Straight for Mercier

Action folded to Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier in the cutoff seat and he opened with a raise to 12,000. Galen Hall called on the button and Isaac Haxton called from the big blind.

The three players took the {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop and Haxton checked. Mercier bet 18,000 and Hall folded. Haxton called.

The {6-Diamonds} paired the board on the turn and Haxton checked again. Mercier upped his bet to 49,000 and fired it out. Haxton called.

The river brought the {5-Clubs} and both players checked.

Mercier tabled the {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for a straight to the eight and Haxton mucked his hand.

Marchese Finds River Salvation

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Tom Marchese
Tom Marchese

Before the flop, Tom Marchese got his last 76,000 all in from the button with {A-Clubs} {3-Spades}, and that became quite a problem when Jason Mercier called him down with the dominating {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}.

Marchese couldn't find any win cards on board, but the {7-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} did allow him to take his money back and chop up the small blind and antes with Mercier.
