Gulyy Next In Crowe's Pecking Order

Owen Crowe opened for 23,000 from the hijack and received a call from Dimitar Danchev on the button. Russian Yury Gulyy then moved all in from the small blind for roughly 240,000, Crowe called, and Danchev got out of the way. Gulyy tabled {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}, but it was way behind the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} of Crowe.

We'd like to say there was some suspense, but the truth of the matter is there wasn't. The only thing interesting about the hand was that Crowe didn't win with a pair of aces; instead, the board ran out {3-Spades}{8-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Spades} and he won with an ace-high flush. Regardless, the result was the same as Gulyy was eliminated from the tournament.

Miniucchi Gone

George Clyde-Smith opened the action with a late positioned raise to 21,000. It folded around to Marcello Miniucchi in the small blind who shipped his short stack of 69,000 all in. Clyde-Smith called with {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and was against Miniucchi's {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}.

The board came down {K-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Clyde-Smith's club flush was able to send Miniucchi packing.

Charania Downs Petrone

The 2012 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final champion Mohsin Charania opened for 21,000 under the gun only to have Ramiro Petrone move all in from the cutoff for right around 80,000. The rest of the field folded and Charania made a quick call.

Petrone: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}
Charania: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

Petrone was in a terrible spot; in fact, the PokerNews Odds Calculator tells us that he had just a 18.25% chance of winning when the money went in. That fell to 8.38% on the {6-Spades}{7-Clubs}{A-Hearts} flop, and dropped even further to 4.55% on the {8-Clubs} turn. That meant Petrone needed one of two jacks to stay alive, but it was not meant to be as the {9-Clubs} appeared on the river.

Godoy Three-Barrels Into Reed

Matthew Reed opened to 20,000 from the cutoff and Nicolas Godoy three-bet to 58,000. Reed called and the two were heads up to see {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} fall.

Reed checked and Godoy fired 52,000. Reed flat called and the turn was the {6-Spades}. Reed checked once again and this time called a bet of 77,000. The board finished off with the {5-Spades} and Reed checked for a third time. Godoy moved 107,000 into the middle. Reed called and Godoy tabled {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for merely king-high.

Reed showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} for ace-high and the best hand. Reed took down the pot and increased his stack to over a million.

Berg Busts

Dimitar Danchev opened from early position, Patrick Kelly called in the hijack seat, and Eli Berg moved all in for around 215,000 from the small blind. Danchev re-shoved, and Kelly folded.

Danchev: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Berg: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Danchev held as the flop, turn, and river came {j-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, eliminating Berg from the PCA Main Event.
