Fish Hooks For Esfandiari

After Vivek Rajkumar had raised to an unknown amount from middle position, Antonio Esfandiari three-bet to 56,000 from the cutoff. The button and both blinds folded, Rajkumar called, and the flop came down {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. Both players checked and the dealer promptly burned and turned the {A-Diamonds}.

Rajkumar chose to seize the initiative and led out for 75,000, but he couldn't shake his opponent as Esfandiari opted to call. Rajkumar fired once again on the {K-Clubs} river, this time for 105,000, but mucked when Esfandiari called and tabled {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

Pair Of Queens For Quoss

Action folded to Germany's Fabian Quoss on the button and he raised to 20,000, which Mike Watson and Nick Schulman called from the small and big blinds respectively. All three players then checked the {Q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop, and Schulman bet 38,000 after Watson had checked the {K-Spades} turn. Only Quoss made the call and then both players returned to checking when the {5-Hearts} appeared on the river.

Schulman rolled over {A-Spades}{J-Spades} for a missed flush, which was no good as Quoss showed {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a pair of queens.

Huge Double for Rajkumar

Over at the feature table, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and neighbor Vivek Rajkumar were heads up on a board of {7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. Grospellier led out for 177,000, and Rajkumar tanked for a considerable amount of time before calling.

The {q-Hearts} completed the board, and Grospellier quickly moved all in. Rajkumar shrugged then made the call, tabling {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for two pair. Grospellier stood up to leave, and the tournament director requested that he turns his cards over. Rajkumar said that it was OK if he didn't, but the tournament director insisted because of the rules at showdown.

The dealer turned over Grospellier's hand ({a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}), and he was left with around 60,000 chips when the stacks were counted down.

Rajkumar appears to have 1.13 million.

Selbst Eliminates Alaei; Chips Up To Over A Million

Daniel Alaei
Daniel Alaei

Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst was the first woman to ever play the $100K Super High Roller since it first appeared on the PCA schedule three years ago. Everyone knows she's a beast, and she's proving it once again here in the Bahamas.

In a recent hand, action folded to Daniel Alaei in the cutoff and he raised to 25,000. Selbst responded with a three-bet to 48,000, Alaei moved all in for approximately 315,000, and Selbst snap-called.

Showdown
Selbst: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Alaei: {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

Selbst was ahead, but Alaei was drawing to live cards. The {9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop wasn't particularly interesting, while the {8-Clubs} turn gave both a flush draw. That flush would come in for both when the {K-Clubs} completed the board on the river, but unfortunately for Alaei his jack was no good as Selbst had the ace-high flush.
