Dan O'Brien opened to 2,000 in early position, Jason Koon three-bet to 5,000 two spots to his left, and Joe Elpayaa called from the blinds. O'Brien four-bet jammed for his last 30,000 or so, Koon called, and Elpayaa mucked.
O'Brien:
Koon:
The flop didn't change much, but the on the turn gave Koon a leading pair of queens. The bricked on the river, and O'Brien was eliminated.
Last year, Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel took second in this very event for $634,550, which he added to the $571,420 he had already collected from the 2012 PCA. He previously took fourth place in the $100,000 Super High Roller for $313,600, first place in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em for $239,830 and fifth in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Turbo for $17,990.
Duhamel hasn't experienced the same type of success in the Bahamas here in 2013. In a recent hand against Fabian Quoss, a preflop raising war resulted in the French Canadian being all in for 54,300 holding and behind the of Quoss.
The flop paired both, but Quoss' jack kicker kept him out in front. Neither the turn nor river helped Duhamel, and he was eliminated from the tournament. We're guessing he'll fire a second bullet before too long.
Two Team PokerStars Pros, Jason Mercier and Daniel Negreanu, saw a flop of in a three-bet pot. Mercier was first on the flop and bet 4,200. Negreanu made the call.
The turn was the , and Mercier fired again. This time he made it 12,600 to go. Negreanu mulled it over, but eventually folded, and Mercier won the pot.
In the $100,000 Super High Roller a couple days ago, these two played with each other and our very own Kristy Arnett did a "VS" video. You can check that out below.
From early position, Olivier Busquet raised to 2,000. Micah Raskin made the call from the cutoff seat, then Joseph Cheong three-bet to 7,000 from the small blind. Action folded back to Busquet, and he gave it up. Raskin also folded, laying the down, and Cheong won the pot.
On the next hand, Tobias Reinkemeier raised to 2,200 from early position, and action folded to Joseph Cheong on the button. He reraised to 5,800, and Reinkemeier gave it up.
Larry Ormson was nursing a short stack for the past few levels, but his time recently ran out. We didn't catch the hand, but Ormson informed us that he got his last 6,000 or so all in preflop holding and was up against the of Poker Hall of Famer Erik Seidel. The fours held and Ormson hit the rail. We asked if he'd be back, but Ormson admitted he wasn't quite sure.
Phil D'Auteuil opened to 2,200 from under the gun, Andrew Lichtenberger called on the button, and Paul Berende defended his big blind. The flop fell , and all three players checked.
The turn was the , Berende moved all in for 4,600, and both D'Auteuil and Lichtenberger called.
The completed the board, and D'Auteuil led out for 3,000. Lichtenberger called, and all three players turned their cards over:
Berende:
D'Auteuil:
Lichtenberger:
Lichtenberger scooped the whole pot with Broadway, and Berende was eliminated.
The following players have been eliminated from the tournament. With that said, they still have the option to reenter just like Steven Silverman recently did. Before he left the tournament area, Kyle Julius told PokerNews that'd he be back.
When we reached the table, "King" Dan Smith was standing and collecting his things. Two sixes were sitting in front of him, the board read , and was in front of Jason Koon.
According to Koon, he opened for 2,300 preflop and Smith called from the blinds. On the flop, both players checked, and on the turn, Smith led for 4,600. Koon called.
On the river, Smith led for 13,200, and Koon raised to 37,600. Smith moved all in for about 10,000 more, and Koon called.
Smith is out, while Koon is up to around 170,000 chips.
We caught the action with 7,500 in the pot and three players in the hand on a flop of . Brandon Steven and Larry Ormson had checked from the blinds, and Huck Seed bet 3,000 from the cutoff. Steven then check-raised to 7,700, Ormson folded, and Seed moved all in for 12,300 more.
Steven called and said, "Jack-eight." He then tabled .
"Eight-eight," Seed said as he rolled over . The turn gave Seed a full house and locked up the double as Steven was drawing dead. The meaningless was run out on the river and Seed was pushed the pot.
