Not Jaffe's Day

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Jonathan Jaffe
Jonathan Jaffe

Jonathan Jaffe started the day with a big chip lead but all his chips melted as snow in the Bahamian sun today. On Jaffe's final hand, after having lost a lot of chips already, it was Shannon Shorr who raised preflop. Paul Kuzmich called from the button and Jaffe moved all in from the big blind for about 100,000 chips.

Shorr folded his cards and Kuzmich called with a pair that held up. Jaffe was knocked out and Kuzmich remains among the bigger stacks in the room.

Merson Doubles Through Gruissem

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Greg Merson (Day 1)
Greg Merson (Day 1)

With about 90,000 in chips in the middle on the {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} board, Philipp Gruissem fired a bet of 35,000. Greg Merson raised all in for 107,600, and Gruissem went into the tank.

"Why would you shove?" he questioned after a minute or two of thought. "It makes no sense."

Another minute or two passed, and then Gruissem called with the {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. Merson had the {7-Spades}{5-Spades} for two pair, but needed to dodge a few outs that Gruissem had.

The river completed the board with the {10-Hearts}, and Merson successfully doubled to a little over 300,000 in chips. Gruissem was knocked back under 300,000, down to about 270,000.

Yan's Move Backfires

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

A players raised to 11,500 and [Removed:17] three-bet to 26,000. From Yan's immediate left it was Mustapha Kanit who four-bet to 45,000 and the action folded back to Yan.

Yan moved all in for about 160,000 and Kanit snap-called.

Yan: {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Kanit: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{K-Hearts} and while Yan made a straight it was Kanit who took down the pot by making a flush on the river.
