Gamez Doubles

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Daniel Gamez
Daniel Gamez

Madis Muur moved all in for effectively 625,000 out of the big blind with {9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, and Daniel Gamez instantly called with {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}.

Muur took the lead when the dealer fanned {3-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}, giving the Estonian a pair of threes, and Gamez would need running straight outs, fives, or an ace to survive. The {k-Clubs} on the turn gave him four extra outs to make broadway, and now seven cards would keep him alive.

The {a-Diamonds} on the river was one of them, and the Guatemalan jumped out of his chair excitedly. He doubled to 1.3 million chips, while Muur fell to 5.3 million.

Three Ladies for Baron

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Isaac Baron opened to 100,000 with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} from the cutoff. Madis Muur defended his big blind with {A-Hearts}{4-Spades}. The flop came down {q-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, giving Baron a set of queens and Muur top pair. Muur checked over to Baron who continued out for 125,000. Muur called and the fourth street was the {10-Clubs}.

Muur checked again and Baron moved forward 275,000. Muur called once again and the board completed with the {K-Hearts}. Muur tapped the table once more and Baron quickly checked it back. Baron tabled his set and and dragged in the pot.

Gamez Getting Shorter

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Daniel Gamez raised to 125,000 from early position with {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, Isaac Baron three-bet to 275,000 on the button, and Gamez tanked for several minutes before calling.

The flop fell {8-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, changing nothing, and Gamez immediately checked. Barron moved all in for effectively 635,000, and Gamez instantly reached for chips. A wry smile crept across his face, and he took his hand away from his chips to fold his hand.

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Shyam Srinivasan was under the gun plus one and peered down at {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}. He made it 110,000 to go and it folded around to Daniel Gamez in the small blind. He looked at {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and cut out a three-bet to 385,000. Srinivasan flat called.

The flop came down {5-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and Gamez continued out for 500,000. Srinivasan raised Gamez all in and he released his jack-ten into the muck. Srinivasan picked up the pot and now has about 3.2 million.

Bobby Zhang Wins Baby Dragon, Macau Poker Cup 20 Opens to Record Numbers

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante

While the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) has been playing out in the Western Hemisphere, the ‘PokerStars LIVE Macau’ kicked off the 20th installment of the Macau Poker Cup (MPC) in the East with the series' biggest ever opening weekend.

The weekend saw the first three days of the 12-day schedule play out with the completion of three side events. Those events attracted a combined 743 players and awarded HK $2,456,622 in prize money. The most notable event was the HK $6,000 buy-in 'Baby Dragon' event, which attracted 332 runners and created a HK $1,739,016 prize pool. The tournament was ultimately won by 26-year-old Aussie Bobby Zhang, who took home the HK $340,800 first-place prize.

In the final hand, Zhang moved all-in holding the {9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and China's Stephen Zhou called off with the {6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. The board ran out {j-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and Zhang’s two pair sealed the deal after more than 18 hours of play.

"Definitely feels great to win the first Baby Dragon in my first poker tournament of 2014." said the 26-year old Zhang.

The 'Red Dragon' HK $11,000 buy-in main event will kick off on January 16, and the Red Dragon is celebrating MPC20 by guaranteeing a massive HK $8 million (US $1 million) prize pool. Needless to say, expectations are that the turnout will break the main event's 891-player rcord.
.
"I'm really impressed with the Baby Dragon turnout and the player feedback has been tremendous." said Danny McDonagh, PokerStars Director of Live Poker Operations in the Asia-Pacific. "Our goal to have a 1000-plus field for the Red Dragon main event seems very likely."
