Simon Higgins vs. Chino Rheem

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

A player in middle position raised to 1,000, Chino Rheem called from the hijack, and Simon Higgins called from the big blind.

The flop fell {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and action checked to Rheem who bet 2,300. Only Higgins called, landing the {7-Clubs} turn which Higgins led out at for 4,500. A call from Rheem delivered the {2-Clubs} river and Higgins bet 11,000.

"Guess you have a straight," said Rheem as he called.

It wasn't a straight, but Higgins' {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} for a set was good, giving him the pot.

The Waxman Blow Up

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

"You can write that I just played terrible," Matt Waxman said jokingly before explaining what had happened to his stack.

Waxman explained that he came back from the break with 45,000 chips, after which it went downhill quickly.

The biggest pot he lost was against an opponent who played his kings "tricky" according to Waxman. The WSOP bracelet winner flopped two pair with king-ten on king-ten-seven, but this decent looking situation ultimately turned into Waxman losing a big pot and his tournament life.

Little Loses Some

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

The flop read {6-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{7-Hearts} when Jonathan Cohen, Jonathan Little, and a third player were engaged in a hand. There were two checks over to Little and he fired out a bet of 1,900. Cohen called and the third player threw his hand away.

The {10-Hearts} came on the turn and Cohen checked over to Little for a second time. Little fired 4,300 and Cohen quickly came over the top for 10,100. Little called.

The {4-Clubs} completed the community cards and Cohen cut out 8,200. Little snapped him off but quickly mucked his cards after he saw Cohen's {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for a flopped set of sevens.

After losing this pot, Little's stack has decreased to about 41,000.

Leah's Full House Beats Paur

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

From under the gun, Mike Leah raised to 1,000. Taylor Paur reraised from the cutoff seat to 2,550, and action folded back to Leah. He made the call. The dealer produced the flop of {Q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, and Leah checked. Paur bet 3,200, and Leah made the call.

The turn added the {A-Spades} to the board, and Leah checked. Paur bet 5,675, and Leah once again made the call.

The river was the {Q-Hearts} to pair the board on the end. Leah checked, and Paur checked behind. Leah tabled the {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for a flopped set that finished as a full house, sixes full of queens. Paur nodded his head that it was good and mucked.

Terry and Volpe Out

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Prior to the level change, PokerStars qualifier Edwin Dammert opened to 1,200 from early position. Todd Terry moved all in for 10,475 on the button, and the action folded back to Dammert, who called.

Terry: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Dammert: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The flop fell {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, giving Dammert a gut-shot straight draw, and the {8-Spades} on the turn completed said straight. Terry could only chop the pot with a {10-} on the river, but the {k-Hearts} on the river was no help.

On an adjacent table, Paul Volpe was also eliminated, but with unknown action.
