A Few More Chip Counts

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Antonio Squared

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We caught up with the action to see Antonio Pace and Antonio Esfandiari looking down at a board of {K-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Pace checked over to the Magician and he fired out a bet of 11,600. Pace called to see the {10-Clubs} river which not only paired the board but brought four clubs to the community cards as well.

Pace came out swinging on fifth street with a bet of 26,000. Esfandiari went into the tank for a bit and finally decided to kick his cards into the muck. Pace triumphantly tabled {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} for just a pair of jacks to the table. Esfandiari nodded in acknowledgement and Pace stacked his new chips.

Pace now sits on about 155,000 while Esfandiari is down to 65,000.

Mercier Can't Fade Shahade

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jennifer Shahade
Jennifer Shahade

After a bit of back-and-forth preflop, Jason Mercier and Jennifer Shahade took a flop of {2-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. According to our crack photographer Danny Maxwell, Mercier appeared to have check-raised all in on the flop, and Shahade called.

Mercier: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}
Shahade: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

Shahade needed a five four the wheel or a four for two pair, but the {7-Hearts} on the turn was a big red brick. Mercier was one card away from a knockout and a 200,000-chip stack, but the river was the {4-Spades}.

Shahade doubled to 130,000 chips, while Mercier fell to around 90,000.

Musumeci Runs Into Crosta's Jacks

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

The completed board read {2-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and there was already roughly 20,000 in the pot. Amanda Musumeci was facing a bet of 11,700 from chip leader Morgan Frederick Crosta. Musumeci thought for about a minute before dropping forward a call. She was shown Crosta's {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} before her cards went sailing into the muck.

Crosta picked up the pot and now has about 345,000 while Musumeci has dropped to 70,000.

Ulsrud Among The Leaders

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Mateusz Moolhuizen raised from early position to 3,500 and the action was folded to Christopher Ulsrud on the button. Ulsrud made the call and Joe Samaha moved all in from the small blind for just 8,500.

Moolhuizen acted quickly and he four-bet to 16,000 total putting extra pressure on Ulsrud.

"How much do you have?" Ulsrud asked the Dutchman who responded by saying he started the hand with 126,000.

Ulsrud grabbed a tower of blue 5,000 chips, slid them forward and Moolhuizen folded right away.

Ulsrud: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Samaha: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Samaha, from the United Arab Emirates, was knocked out.

David Baker vs. Mike McDonald

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Mike "Timex" McDonald raised to 4,000 from early position and David "ODB" Baker called from the big blind.

The flop came down {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Baker checked to McDonald who bet 5,000. Baker clicked it back to 10,000, McDonald called, and the {6-Diamonds} fell on the turn. Baker bet 10,000, McDonald called, and the {5-Hearts} river completed the board. Baker bet 15,000 and after a few moments, McDonald called.

Baker tabled {10-Spades}{8-Spades} for trips, but McDonald's {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for trips with a better kicker won the pot.

From Mistake to Miracle

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

When we arrived at the table, the board read {7-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Rex Alarcon was all in for for what looked like 50,000 or so, only there was one problem - it wasn't his turn to act.

Confused, Leo Yan Ho Cheng needed the floor to explain to him that if he checked the action would be unchanged, and Alarcon would be all in. If he bet, Alarcon would be allowed to call, fold, or raise.

Cheng opened to check, then called the all-in bet. He was pleased to see that he was ahead.

Alarcon: {q-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Cheng: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Unfortunately for Cheng, the river was the {q-Clubs}, giving Alarcon two pair.

"Wow!" Alarcon said, popping up out of his chair.

While the dealer was verifying the stacks, Alarcon whipped out a cigarette and popped it in his mouth. With the unlit loosey flopping about, he reached into his pocked for another item, his camera phone, and started snapping pictures of the board.

Alarcon now sits with around 180,000 chips, while Cheng is in the danger zone with 14,000.
