Nines Full For Rheem

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We arrived at the table toward the end of action to find Chino Rheem in the tank. The completed board read {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Rheem had fired a river bet of 23,000. Maria Ho raised the action to 48,000, causing Rheem to stir in his seat.

He took a moment and talked through the hand to himself before finally flinging out a flat call. He tabled {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for nines full of sixes which caused Ho to kick her hand into the muck. Rheem dragged in the pot and is now flirting with 180,000 in chips.

End of the Line for Walthaus

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Jorn Walthaus just came over to the media task to pick up his portable phone charger, which was plugged in under our desk.

"Time to hit the pool," Walthaus sighed as he wandered off.

"Ace-jack against ace-king," he added and that means we've lost another player.

Former SuperNova Elite Mike Ziemba on Surviving Black Friday and Grinding Online in NV

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Mike Ziemba
Mike Ziemba

Mike Ziemba is a former PokerStars SuperNova Elite player who had his dream job stripped from him when Black Friday struck the Internet poker world. Since that dark day in April 2011, Ziemba spent time traveling abroad to play, attempting to play live cash games in Las Vegas, and anxiously waiting for online poker's triumphant return to the United States.

While the volume of games may not be what it once was, online poker is back in Ziemba's home state of Nevada. Since its return, Ziemba has been back on the grind getting his life back in order, and he is easily one of the highest — if not the highest — volume players in the Silver State.

PokerNews senior writer Rich Ryan recently spent some time with Ziemba to get his story and find out first hand from the man himself what the entire experience has been like for the past couple of years through all of the ups and downs.

Stammdogg Doubles Through Timex

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

With the board reading {2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and more than 70,000 in the pot, Keven "Stammdogg" Stammen shoved for 58,800, sending Mike "Timex" McDonald into the tank for about four minutes before he called.

Stammen tabled {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for trip fives, besting McDonald's {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} to double up.

Silver Loses One

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Max Silver raised to 2,100 from middle position. Miguel Cieri Di Pentima called on the button, and then action folded to Team PokerStars Pro Humberto Brenes in the big blind. Brenes was unaware that Di Pentima had called and folded his hand, showing the {2-Diamonds}.

The flop came down {K-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} between Silver and Di Pentima. Silver bet 4,100, and Di Pentima made the call to see the {2-Spades} land on the turn. Silver bet 7,000, and Di Pentima called with just about 13,000 behind after matching the bet.

The river finished off the board with the {10-Hearts}, and Silver set Di Pentima all in. Di Pentima called with the {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for the nut flush, and that was good enough to beat Silver's {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} for top pair.

Di Pentima won the pot to move to right around 57,000 while Silver was kicked back to 118,500.

Crosta Climbing

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Mark De Faria raised to 2,300 from middle postion and Chino Rheem called from the hijack. Morgan Frederick Crosta three-bet to 5,600 from the small blind, both De Faria and Rheem called, and the flop came down {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}.

Crosta continued for 13,000 and only Rheem called to see the {8-Spades} turn where Crosta bet 23,000. Rheem gave it some throught, but ultimately folded.

More For Baker

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

After each committing 5,500 before the flop in unknown action, David "ODB" Baker and Christian de Leon saw a flop of {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}.

Baker checked the flop and the PokerStars Team Pro continued out for 4,600. Baker called and the board paired with the {6-Clubs} on fourth street. Two checks allowed the {9-Clubs} to complete the board and Baker took this opportunity to shoot out a bet of 4,500. De Leon called but mucked his hand after Baker tabled two jacks - {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} - for the win.

Baker now has right around 150,000 in chips.
