Newey Out

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Paul Newey was all in with the {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} against Isaac Haxton's {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. The flop, turn, and river ran out {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, and Newey was eliminated.

Riess Rebuilding

Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

After a "brutal couple of hands," Ryan Riess opened to 5,200 in the cutoff. Mike McDonald called in the big blind, the dealer fanned {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}, and both players checked.

The turn was the {a-Clubs}, McDonald checked again, and Riess fired out 6,000. McDonald check-raised to 20,000, Riess made the call, and the {2-Diamonds} completed the board.

McDonald rapped the felt, leading Riess to toss out 23,000. McDonald tank-called, then mucked when Riess showed {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for aces and sixes.

Good to be King

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

"King" Dan Smith opened to 5,500 from under the gun, Fabian Quoss called on the button, and Igor Kurganov three-bet to 23,000 out of the small blind. Only Smith called.

The flop fell {q-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, Kurganov checked, and Smith bet 22,000. Kurganov called.

Kurganov check-called another 41,000 from Smith after the {7-Spades} turned, and a repeat queen - the {q-Hearts} - completed the board. Kurganov checked a third time, Smith slid forward 150,000 (enough to put Kurganov all in), and the German-speaking, Russian-born high-stakes pro folded.

"Incredible"

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Antonio Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari

From under the gun, PokerStars Team Online member Isaac Haxton raised. Antonio Esfandiari three-bet from the button, and Haxton called. The bet amounts were unknown.

The flop came down {8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}, and Haxton checked. Esfandiari bet 18,000, and Haxton check-raised to 52,000. After a couple minutes of tanking, Esfandiari called to see the turn.

The {6-Clubs} landed on the turn, and Haxton checked. Esfandiari bet 27,300, and Haxton gave it up.

While raking in the pot and stacking his chips, Esfandiari said, "God, you love to check-raise me. It's actually incredible!"

"Been a lot of good pots for it," responded Haxton.

"Incredible," Esfandiari reiterated.

"Why bet when you can check?" joked Haxton back.
