Stern Drops Some to Alvarado

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Max Greenwood just raised to 1,500 and Dani Stern called on the button after which both blinds, Talal Shakerchi and JC Alvarado called. The flop brought out {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and the action was checked to Stern who bet 4,000 and Shakerchi folded, after which Alvarado made it 11,000.

Greenwood folded quickly as well, creating heads up action on the turn.

The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Alvarado fired out 18,000, which got Stern to fold after some tanking.

Alvarado's Attempt at Sabotaging Busquet Strict Diet

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Olivier Busquet
Olivier Busquet

The $150,000 MMA fight is still quite some time away between JC Alvarado and Olivier Busquet, but the former just made an attempt at hijacking the latter's dietary restraints.

Alvarado called yours truly over, explaining he had ordered a beer and chips for Busquet, who was sitting one table over. The players at Alvarado's table got a good chuckle out of the joke even before his Tuesday night snack was delivered.

When the waitress arrived with the beer and chips, Alvarado explained where it had to be delivered, and the friendly waitress followed the instructions.

"Here you go sir," the waitress said to a dumbfounded Busquet.

Confused, Busquet said, "I didn't order that," but the waitress placed the bag of chips on the rail while handing him the beer and a plastic cup.

"It's a gift," the smiling waitress said.

"From who?" Busquet asked, as Alvarado and the players at his table could not stop laughing.

Ole Schemion, facing Busquet, and seeing Alvarado's laughter in the background as he was in his direct line of sight, laughed out loud as he immediately understood what was going on.

"From that gentleman," the waitress pointed at Alvarado, and Busquet now started laughing as well.

"It's a joke," Busquet tried to explain to the waitress, "And I don't want it."

As the waitress left, Busquet put the bag of chips and the beer under his seat, and with a big smile on his face he continued playing.

Asked when he had last had a beer and chips, Busquet said, "Oh man, I really can't remember. It must've been a long-long time ago."

"Clean living," Busquet added with a smile, "I break my diet sometimes for something I really, really want, but not for some barbecue chips and a beer."

When we inquired whether or not Busquet could be tempted with any food to break his strict diet, he said, "Well, if it was New York cheesecake or some Sour Patch Kids, then it would've been a different story."

Alvarado's first attempt at sabotaging Busquet preparations did not go according to plan, but knowing that cheesecake or candy could do the trick he might be sending over some boxes to the Busquet residence.

Big Slick Doesn't Do the Trick for Sanchez

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Jake Abdalla opened for 1,000 in early position and was met by a three-bet to 2,550 by Georgios Sotiropoulos, who was fresh off winning the LAPT Bahamas Main Event. Diego Sanchez then four-bet to 7,550 from the big blind, both his opponents called, and the flop came down {6-Spades}{q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}.

All three players checked, the dealer burned and turned the {a-Spades}, and Sanchez checked. Abdalla bet 7,300, Sotiropoulos folded, and Sanchez check-raised all in for 16,575. Abdalla snap-called and Sanchez discovered the bad news.

Sanchez: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Abdalla: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

Sanchez had turned top pair, but he was drawing dead to the flopped set of Abdalla. The meaningless {7-Diamonds} was run out on the river for good measure, and Sanchez hit the rail.

Antonius' Stay Short and Not That Sweet

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

In one of the hands of Level 5, Olivier Busquet, who has been on fire as of late, raised to 1,100 from the button and was met by a three-bet to 3,900 by Patrik Antonius from the big blind. Busquet pushed back with a four-bet to 8,600, Antonius five-bet to 18,500, and Busquet shipped.

Antonius hit the tank, but eventually called off for roughly the 50,000 starting stack with {q-}{q-}. Unfortunately for him, Busquet held the goods with {a-}{a-} and the pocket rockets held.

Bryn Kenney and Joe McKeehen heads up in the $100k Super High Roller earlier this week

A player raised to 1,000 and Joe McKeehen called after which Bryn Kenney came along as well from the button. The flop brought out {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades} and McKeehen bet 1,800 after the initial raiser checked, and only Kenney called.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and McKeehen bet another 4,800, which was called by Kenney once again.

The river brought the {K-Spades} and McKeehen now checked to Kenney, who's chasing his third High Roller final table of the week. Kenney moved all in for 17,000 and McKeehen went into the tank for a long time before calling.

Kenney showed {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for trips, and McKeehens' losing {K-}{J-} was tabled as well.

Hall Takes One From Deeb

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Chris Hunichen raised before the flop after which Tom Hall, on his direct left, three-bet from the hijack to 2,250. Shaun Deeb put in a four-bet to 5,250 and Hunichen folded right away, but Hall made the call.

The board ran out {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and both players checked until Hall bet 6,750 on the river. Deeb, with a pained look on his face, tanked for quite some time before he eventually flicked his cards into the muck.

Hall mucked as well, and quietly he raked in the chips.

Antonius Takes It on the Turn

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Action folded to Olivier Busquet on the button and he opened for 1,100. Jeff Rossiter called from the small blind, Patrik Antonius did the same from the big, and the three players took a flop of {2-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, which they all checked.

When the {3-Diamonds} peeled off on the turn, Rossiter led out for 2,600, Antonius raised to 9,000, and Busquet folded. Rossiter then followed suit and released his hand.
