Ari Engel Eliminated in 12th Place ($60,980)

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Ari Engel
Ari Engel

Ari Engel opened to 25,000 from the cutoff and Christopher Kruk called from the big blind. The flop fell {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Kruk check-called a bet of 30,000 from Engel.

The turn brought the {9-Hearts} and Kruk checked again. Engel pushed all in for 175,000 and Kruk went into the tank. After using up two of his time banks, Kruk finally counted out a call and the cards were tabled. Engel showed {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for just king high and Kruk surprisingly rolled over {5-Spades}{3-Spades} for bottom pair. The river bricked off with the {a-Hearts} and Engel's tournament came to an end.

"Wow, calling station," Steffen Sontheimer said to Kruk. "I thought Justin was the calling station."

Classic Race Goes to Concepcion

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Stefan Schillhabel open-jammed on Jonathan Concepcion from the small blind and Concepcion snap-called putting himself and his last 179,000 at risk.

Schillhabel: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Concepcion: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Much to the delight of the rest of the table, both players woke up with monsters. The most classic of races was underway and an even sicker runout lay ahead. The dealer fanned out a {k-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{6-Hearts} board and all though Schillhabel flopped top two, Concepcion binked a set on the turn and raked in a much needed double up.

Jaffe Takes from Bonomo

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Action folded to Jonathan Jaffe on the button and he raised to 30,000. Justin Bonomo called from the big blind.

The flop came {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Bonomo check-called a bet of 26,000 from Jaffe.

The turn brought the {A-Hearts} and Bonomo checked. Jaffe bet again, 75,000 this time, and Jaffe called.

The {8-Spades} fell on the river and Bonomo checked a third time. Jaffe bet 350,000, sending Bonomo into the tank. He used two time bank slips before he eventually called. Jaffe tabled {K-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for the turned nut flush, Bonomo mucked, and Jaffe took the pot to chip up substantially.

Larry Greenberg Eliminated in 13th Place ($60,980)

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Lawrence Greenberg
Lawrence Greenberg

On a board reading {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}{10-Spades}{10-Hearts}, Christopher Kruk led out for 70,000 from the big blind into a pot of around 60,000. Larry Greenberg called from the cutoff and the {6-Diamonds} landed on the river.

Kruk put in a bet of 230,000 and Greenberg called again. Kruk showed the {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and Greenberg mucked with just over 70,000 chips remaining.

In the next hand, the action folded to Greenberg who pushed all in for 72,000 and Justin Bonomo called from the big blind. Bonomo tabled {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Greenberg had two live cards with {k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, giving Bonomo a set of threes and Greenberg was drawing slim. The {5-Hearts} on the turn ended things and Greenberg was eliminated in 13th place.

Liv Boeree Eliminated in 14th Place ($55,740)

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Liv Boeree
Liv Boeree

Liv Boeree had already committed 25,000 from middle position and was facing a decision for a total of 70,000 from Christopher Kruk, who was on the button. Boeree called.

The flop came {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Boeree checked. Kruk moved a handful of T-25,000 chips forward to put Boeree to a decision for her stack. She called for 126,000 to put herself at risk.

Liv Boeree: {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Christopher Kruk: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

Boeree had the advantage with top pair and Kruk needed to improve in order to stack her. The {J-Spades} on the turn gave Kruk Broadway and left Boeree drawing to a chop. The {9-Hearts} river changed nothing, so Kruk took the pot to end Boeree's run in this tournament.

Chips Are Flying!

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Everyone has come to play after their 90-minute dinner break and chips have been exchanging hands every pot. On one table, Steffen Sontheimer opened to 22,000 from early position and Mikita Badziakouski three-bet to 65,000 on the button. Sontheimer called and the flop came {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}.

Both players checked and the {q-Clubs} landed on the turn. Sontheimer checked again and Badziakouski bet 90,000. Sontheimer check-raised all in for 312,000, forcing Badziakouski to let go of his hand.

At the other table, Jonathan Jaffe raised to 28,000 on the button and Justin Bonomo defended his big blind. Both players checked the {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop and the {5-Clubs} landed on the turn. Bonomo checked again and Jaffe bet 30,000. Bonomo hung around to see the {9-Diamonds} on the river.

Bonomo checked one more time and Jaffe reached back for a bet of 156,000. That sent Bonomo into the tank, having to use three of his time banks before he finally called. Jaffe tabled {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Bonomo made the correct call with just {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}.
