Nitsche Getting Short

Level 3 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Rainer Kempe raised to 4,000 from the hijack and was called by Dominik Nitsche in the big blind.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades}, Nitsche check-raised Kempe's bet of 6,500 to 15,000 and Kempe called.

The turn brought them the {6-Spades}, Nitsche took over the initiative and bet 11,000 which called.

The river completed the board with the {k-Clubs}, Nitsche checked, Kempe put in four 25,000-value chips to put Nitsche all-in and Nitsche quickly let his hand go.

Alex Foxen, who finished in second place last night in the $50,000 Single-Day High Roller for $651,980, has just taken his seat on their table.

Koon Leaves Kurganov Short

Level 3 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Dominik Nitsche raised to 3,500 and Igor Kurganov called in the cutoff. Jason Koon in the small blind three-bet to 20,000 and Nitsche folded, Kurganov called. The {J-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop and the {5-Hearts} turn brought no betting action, whereas Koon then bet the {4-Spades} river for 44,000.

Kurganov called and Koon tabled {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a pair of tens, which won the pot and left Kurganov with just one fifth of the starting stack.

Mateos Loses Two in a Row

Level 2 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Adrian Mateos and Stephen Chidwick headed to the {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades} turn and the action went check, check. Chidwick also checked the {9-Clubs} river and Mateos then bet 38,000 into a pot of more than 50,000. Chidwick moved all in for 197,500 and Mateos used one time bank before folding.

The very next hand, Sam Greenwood opened to 2,500 and Talal Shakerchi called. Mateos squeezed to 14,000 and picked up two calls. The {J-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop was checked to Mateos and his bet of 15,000 resulted in a fold from Greenwood and a call from Shakerchi. There was no betting action on the {2-Diamonds} turn, which prompted a bet of 32,000 by Shakerchi after the {9-Clubs} river.

Mateos used another two time banks and folded, he only has two time banks remaining for today.

Kempe Takes From Kurganov

Level 2 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Rainer Kempe and Igor Kurganov clashed in a three-bet pot that sent a decent portion of Kurganov's stack one seat over.

It all started with a raise to 3,000 by Kurganov in the hijack and Kempe three-bet the cutoff to 11,000, Kurganov called. The duo checked the {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop and Kurganov check-called a bet of 15,000 on the {Q-Diamonds} turn. On the {5-Spades} river, Kurganov checked once more and Kempe made it 40,000 to go.

"Oh Rainer," Kurganov sighed and paid off to get shown the {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} by Kempe. That won the pot, as Kurganov mucked.
