Hands #28-30: Koonce Puts Himself in a Bind

Level 33 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

Hand #28: Marc Rivera raised to 600,000 from under the gun with {a-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Ramon Colillas shipped all in for 8,350,000 in the small blind with {a-Spades}{q-Spades}. Rivera quickly folded and Colillas scooped the pot.

Hand #29: Julien Martini opened to 600,000 in the cutoff with {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Colillas shipped again with {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} on the button. The action was back on Martini and he also laid down his hand.

Hand #30: Colillas bumped it up to 650,000 with {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} in the cutoff and Jason Koonce defended from the big blind with {a-Spades}{5-Spades}. The flop came {k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Koonce led out for 1,100,000. Colillas called after flopping top pair and the {10-Hearts} landed on the turn.

Koonce fired out another bet of 2,700,000 and Colillas used two time extensions before making the call. The river brought the {a-Clubs} and Koonce opted to check this time. Colillas announced all in, putting Koonce to the test for his remaining 5,225,000 chips. Koonce used a time extension as well but eventually decided to fold.

Hands #22-27: A Light Three-Bet from Koonce

Level 33 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

Hand #22: Marc Rivera raised to 600,000 with {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} from second position and Ramon Colillas defended big blind with {q-}{8-}.

Colillas check-folded on {2-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{a-Hearts}.

Hand #23: Julien Martini raised to 600,000 with {j-Spades}{8-Clubs} and Colillas was dealt {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, which he three-bet with to win the pot.

Hand #24: Colillas raised with {q-Diamonds}{9-Spades} on the button to 650,000 and Rivera jammed for 5,875,000 in the big blind to win the pot.

Hand #25: Colillas made it 650,000 in the cutoff with {a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and got no action until Jason Koonce popped it to 2 million with {9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. Colillas let it go.

Hand #26: Martini got his second straight walk.

Hand #27: Scott Baumstein, who hadn't had many opportunities to play in the early stages of the final day, opened to 600,000 with {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} first to act. That was enough to win the pot.

Marc Perrault

Hand #21: Ramon Colillas opened to 650,000 from under the gun with {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and Julien Martini called from the small blind with {9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Marc Perrault was all in for just 425,000 in the big blind holding {6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} which created a side pot.

Martini checked blind before the flop of {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{4-Spades} hit the felt. Colillas bet 425,000 and Martini quickly sent his cards to the muck. The two remaining hands were tabled and Perrault would need runner-runner in order to stay alive. The {8-Clubs} on the turn meant Perrault was drawing dead to the {4-Hearts} on the river.

Hand #18: Julien Martini raised and took the blinds and antes with {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

Hand #19: Martini opened again with {q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} under the gun and Marc Rivera called in the small blind with {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}.

Rivera used two time banks and then folded.

Hand #17: Julien Martini opened to 600,000 in the hijack with {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and Farid Jattin shoved all in for 6,200,000 with {a-Spades}{j-Spades} in the cutoff. Scott Baumstein folded {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} in the big blind and Martini made a quick call.

Jattin was in a dominated position and would need some help in order to stay alive. The flop fell {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds} to give Jattin a flush draw. The {q-Diamonds} on the turn was no help and the {10-Clubs} on the river sent Jattin to the rail in seventh place.

Hand #14: Koonce raised to 600,000 on the button with {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Farid Jattin looked down at {a-Hearts}{4-Spades} in the big blind and called.

Hand #15: Martini opened for 600,000 with {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs} on the button and Perrault defended {9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}.

The {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop brought a little for both and they checked to the {j-Hearts} turn. They checked again and the {k-Diamonds} fell. Perrault bet 1.3 million and got called, losing the showdown with his inferior flush.

Hand #16: Koonce raised to 700,000 and won with {k-Spades}{j-Spades}.

Hand #7: Marc Rivera opened for 500,000 with {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts} in the hijack and Julien Martini made it 1,325,000 with {a-Spades}{q-Spades}. Jattin picked up the {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} in the small blind and used a couple of time extensions before mucking.

In the next seat, Talal Shakerchi woke up with {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} and shoved all in for 5,250,000. Rivera mucked and Martini thought a bit but opted to call after it folded back to him.

The flop came {3-Clubs}{k-Spades}{2-Hearts}, little to fear for Shakerchi, but the {10-Spades} brought lots of outs for Martini. The river: {5-Spades}, busting Shakerchi in sick fashion.

Hand #4: Scott Baumstein made it 500,000 on the button with {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Marc Rivera called from the small blind with {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The flop came {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Rivera checked to Baumstein who continued for 425,000. Rivera called and the {2-Spades} paired the board on the turn. Both players checked to the {9-Clubs} on the river and two more checks awarded Rivera the pot.

Hand #5: Marc Perrault raised to 500,000 in middle position with {k-Spades}{j-Spades} and Julien Martini saw his first action with {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} in the big blind. The flop of {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{3-Hearts} paired both players but the action checked to the {q-Hearts} on the turn.

Martini checked again and Perrault fired out a bet of 700,000. Martini stuck around to see the {3-Spades} on the river as he improved to a full house. Martini opted to lead out for 525,000 and Perrault paid him off.
