Two in a Row for Matakis

Level 24 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Ian Matakis
Ian Matakis

Ian Matakis raised to 60,000 from under the gun and Mauricio Ferreira Pais was the lone caller in the big blind. The flop was {4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Pais check-called a 40,000 bet from Matakis. Both players checked down the turn {4-Hearts} and the river {6-Spades} to get to a showdown. Pais turned over {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, but Matakis tabled {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} to take the small pot with the board's pair of fours and an ace.

On the next hand, Allan Ribeiro raised 60,000 from the button and Matakis called from the big blind. Matakis check-called a 50,000 bet from Pais on a flop of {q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and the turn came {4-Hearts}. Both players checked the turn to see {3-Hearts} on the river, and Matakis checked again. Ribeiro fired a bet of 125,000 and Matakis called quickly while he turned over {q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} for a flush. Ribeiro showed the losing {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} before it went into the muck.

Neves Doubles Through Tolbert

Level 24 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Pedro Neves
Pedro Neves

The action started with a button raise to 65,000 by Clint Tolbert and Pedro Neves continued his aggressive play with a shorter stack, as he once more three-bet and made it 190,000 to go from the big blind.

Tolbert glanced around the table at all stacks before he moved all-in within the allocated 30-second shot clock and Neves beat him into the pot with a snap-call.

Pedro Neves: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Clint Tolbert: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

"One of those days ..." Tolbert grinned and Alexandre Raymond smiled.

The flop brought {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades} and Tolbert needed running cards to avoid a hefty setback. "Spade ... for fun. A spade never hurt anybody," he joked in chat. However, the {3-Diamonds} turn confirmed the double of Neves for 885,000 as the meaningless {q-Spades} river completed the board.

Ferreira Pais Pays Off Raymond

Level 24 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Alexandre Raymond made it 60,000 to go and Mauricio Ferreira Pais called in the cutoff. On a {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop, Raymond check-called a bet worth 65,000 and the {8-Diamonds} on the turn was checked. Raymond bet the {k-Diamonds} river for 300,000 with shaky fingers while moving the chips forward.

Ferreira Pais used one time bank and called but quickly mucked when he was shown the {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} by Raymond.

Shortly after, Ferreira Pais opened to 325,000 for three quarters of his short stack and claimed the blinds and big blind ante.

Haxton Continues Heater With 2023 PCA $100K Super High Roller Victory

Level 24 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

There was another great High Roller victory for Isaac Haxton in the PCA $100,000 Super High Roller, winning over $1,000,000 after a three-way chop.

The American made an ICM deal with Seth Davies and Adrian Mateos, and came out on top as the trio played it out to decide the victor.

This result came less than a week after another High Roller victory in Las Vegas, with Haxton calling it a fantastic start to the year.

"I don't think I've ever won two tournaments in a row before, and these are pretty good ones to do it in," Haxton told PokerNews in a winner's interview. "So yeah, I'm feeling great. This is a fantastic start to the year."

Alexandre Raymond
Alexandre Raymond

Pedro Neves raised to 60,000 from early position before Alexandre Raymond made it 155,000 from the next seat over. Michel Dattani four-bet to 375,000 from the big blind and Neves got out of the way. Raymond thought for a moment before he announced that he was all in for a total of 1,350,000. Dattani called quickly and the cards were turned up.

Alexandre Raymond: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Michel Dattani: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Raymond turned a pair of aces to crack pocket kings and secure a big double.

Three-Bets But No Flop Yet on Secondary Table

The first three minutes of play saw Michel Dattani with a raise to 50,000 and Pedro Neves three-bet to 165,000 in order to win the pot.

Allan Ribeiro then min-raised from under the gun to win the blinds and big blind ante.

Ian Matakis raised to 50,000 and Dattani three-bet to 150,000, shutting down Matakis.

After the blinds went up, Matakis raised to 60,000 from under the gun. Neves three-bet to 165,000 again and Mauricio Ferreira Pais tanked for a while in the big blind but folded. Matakis waved to see the stack of his opponent and folded once more.
