All-Time Money Leaders Bonomo & Kenney Among Day 2 Players in $100,000 PCA Super High Roller

Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

The 2023 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure continues today with Day 2 of $100,000 PCA Super High Roller, an exciting event that has attracted dozens of big names and will continue to do so until late registration closes at the start of play at 12:30 p.m. local time.

There's no shortage of accomplished players in the chip counts and two of them are Justin Bonomo and Bryn Kenney. Bonomo is looking to maintain the top slot on the Hendon Mob list while the controversy-marred Kenney hopes to once again pass "ZeeJustin."

Other big names include Europeans Patrik Antonius, Adrian Mateos, Aleksejs Ponakovs and Mikita Badziakouski, Americans Nick Petrangelo, Seth Davies, Chris Brewer, Dan Smith and Isaac Haxton and Canadians Timothy Adams, Sam Greenwood, Daniel Dvoress and Mike Watson, who managed to bag the chip lead with a stack good for 138 big blinds.

While most players who busted on Day 1 re-bought on a second bullet, there are a few who fell that may hop back into the unlimited reentry event today, including David Yan, Vicente Delgado, Fedor Holz and PokerStars Ambassador Sam Grafton, who couldn't get anything going on Day 1 despite firing two bullets.

Petrangelo Picks Off Antonius' Bluff

Level 9 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Nick Petrangelo
Nick Petrangelo

Nick Petrangelo opened to 13,000 in early position and Patrik Antonius defended his big blind.

Antonius checked on the flop of {3-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and Petrangelo continued for 10,000. Antonius called.

Antonius checked again on the {4-Hearts} turn and Petrangelo checked back. The {6-Clubs} river completed the board and Antonius led out for 50,000 for a nearly pot-sized bet. Petrangelo used a time bank and then called.

Antonius tabled a bluff with {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} for a busted straight draw, while Petrangelo showed {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} to win the pot with a pair of tens.

Haxton Flops Set to Felt Fleyshman

Level 10 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Dan Fleyshman
Dan Fleyshman

Isaac Haxton opened to 17,000 on the button and Dan Fleyshman quickly three-bet jammed for 147,000 from the small blind. Haxton called with a bigger stack after confirming a count.

Dan Fleyshman: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Isaac Haxton: {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}

Fleyshman had just doubled up in a flip and was looking to do it again. The flop of {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts} teased Fleyshman as it paired his ace while Haxton had flopped a set to have his opponent drawing very thin.

The {3-Diamonds} on the turn gave Haxton a full house before the {4-Clubs} rolled off to mark Fleyshman's elimination.

Smith Busts Addamo

Level 10 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Michael Addamo
Michael Addamo

Dan Smith was out of position in a heads-up pot against Michael Addamo on a board of {6-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}.

Smith checked on the turn and Addamo bet 30,000. Smith check-raised to put Addamo all in and he called off with the remainder of his short stack.

Michael Addamo: {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Dan Smith: {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

Smith had turned two pair to be in front of Addamo's pair of aces and nothing changed on the {q-Spades} river to mark the Australian's elimination.

Kenney Falls After Paying Off Smith

Level 10 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Bryn Kenney
Bryn Kenney

Bryn Kenney opened to 17,000 in middle position and Dan Smith flat-called on the button, while Ben Heath also came along from the big blind.

Heath checked on the flop of {2-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Kenney continued for 16,000. Smith called and Heath got out of the way. Kenney then bet 32,000 on the {10-Diamonds} turn and Smith called.

Kenney slowed down on the {5-Diamonds} river and Smith announced a bet of 88,000. Kenney sighed and stretched as he exhausted three of his time banks. Eventually, he called.

"Ace-jack," announced Smith before showing {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}, leading Kenney to muck as he was left with crumbs.

Just a few hands later, Kenney open-jammed from under the gun and was called by the bigger-stacked Juan Pardo in the small blind.

Bryn Kenney: {k-}{q-}
Juan Pardo: {k-}{k-}

Kenney had run into kings to be drawing thin and received no help from the runout to mark his elimination. It is unlikely any tears were shed by other players in the event as the second all-time money leader was accused last year of running an online cheating ring.

Elsewhere, fellow American high-stakes pro Nick Petrangelo was eliminated.

Aido Doubles, Hissou Left with a Single Chip

Level 11 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Sergio Aido
Sergio Aido

Sergio Aido had just over 16 big blinds to start the hand and moved all in for 166,000 in the hijack. Sirzat Hissou was next to act and stuck in the last of his chips as well.

Sergio Aido: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Sirzat Hissou: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and Aido's pair of fives held on to double through Hissou, who was left with just 1,000 chips after the hand. A couple of minutes later, Hissou was seen exiting the tournament area.

Pardo Hits a One Outer on Smith

Level 11 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo

Dan Smith raised to 21,000 from the cutoff and Juan Pardo shipped all in for 266,000 in the big blind. Smith quickly called and the cards were face up on the felt.

Juan Pardo: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Dan Smith: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Smith held a big lead with the larger of the two pocket pairs. The flop of {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} was safe for Smith and so was the {2-Spades} on the turn. However, the {9-Diamonds} rolled off on the river and Pardo scored a double-up.

"I folded a nine," Cary Katz piped up, letting Pardo know that he spiked a one-outer.

Smith Eliminated After Another Unfortunate River

Level 12 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

Dan Smith managed to chip up a bit when he called a raise in the big blind from Ben Heath in the cutoff and then check-jammed the flop over Heath's continuation bet.

The next hand, Heath opened to 24,000 and Smith three-bet jammed from the small blind. Heath called with a bigger stack.

Dan Smith: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Ben Heath: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Smith was in good shape as the flop landed {9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{k-Spades} and the {9-Clubs} turn didn't change things. Smith only had to dodge an ace with one card to come, but he couldn't do it as the river brought the {a-Clubs} to mark his elimination.

That's not the first river card today that has doomed Smith. Less than an hour prior, he lost nearly his whole stack when he was one-outed by Juan Pardo, who held pocket nines and hit a nine on the river to double through Smith's pocket tens.

Badziakouski Backs Into a Straight to Stay Alive

Level 12 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Mikita Badziakouski
Mikita Badziakouski

Mikita Badziakouski was down to just a fraction of a big blind and was all in in a four-way pot that saw a flop of {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}.

Aleksejs Ponakovs and Adrian Mateos both checked on the flop and Seth Davies bet 55,000. Ponakovs called and Mateos folded. Ponakovs checked again on the {3-Hearts} turn and Davies fired for 160,000. Ponakovs folded and the cards were flipped.

Mikita Badziakouski: {6-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Seth Davies: {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

Badziakouski was drawing to just a gutshot and it looked like lights out for the Belarusian. However, the dealer then put down the {4-Spades} on the river to earn Badziakouski the unlikely pot, while Davies took down a decent side pot.

It will still be an uphill battle for Badziakouski as the main pot got him to just over a single big blind.
