Hecklen Out, Watson Builds on His Lead

Level 17 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Henrik Hecklen
Henrik Hecklen

With a $250,000 money bubble looming, the action had nearly ground to a halt over the last 20 minutes. However, Henrik Hecklen finally found a spot to get his stack in the middle with {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}. Unfortunately for Hecklen, Mike Watson managed to out-flop him with {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} when the flop came {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}.

Hecklen was unable to improve on the {3-Hearts} turn or the {2-Spades} river and was bounced from the tournament just shy of the money while Watson increased his lead to more than 3,000,000 chips.

Level 17 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Since the players returned from their break, there has yet to be a hand that has made it to a flop. There have been some three-bets courtesy of Juan Pardo and Mike Watson who continue to build on their leads, while Ben Heath has dipped below 10 big blinds to just 350,000 chips.

Big River Overbet from Haxton

Level 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Isaac Haxton was in the small blind in a heads-up pot against Daniel Dvoress in early position on a flop of {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}.

Haxton checked on the flop and Dvoress bet 45,000. Haxton called. Haxton checked again on the {9-Clubs} turn and Dvoress checked back.

The {4-Spades} river completed the board and Haxton used a time bank before announcing a bet of 640,000 with about half of that in the pot. Dvoress laid it down.

Heath Bombs the River to No Avail

Level 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Isaac Haxton opened to 60,000 from under the gun and Ben Heath defended from the big blind. The flop fell {j-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and both players checked through to the {5-Spades} on the turn and the {3-Spades} on the river.

Heath finally took a stab at the pot with a full pot-sized bet of 165,000. Haxton quickly called and Heath turned over {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for ten-high while Haxton held {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for two pair.

Watson and Pardo Check it Down

Level 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Mike Watson opened to 65,000 from the hijack and Juan Pardo defended out of the small blind.

Pardo checked on the flop of {q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and Watson checked back. Pardo checked again on the {10-Diamonds} turn and Watson again checked back.

Pardo checked a third time on the {2-Diamonds} river and Watson followed suit. Pardo showed ace-high with {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, but it was no good against the Canadian's {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}.

Chidwick Eliminated by Pardo

Level 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

Stephen Chidwick was down to just one big blind and managed to double up with {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades} against the {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} in a blind versus blind confrontation that saw the board run out {q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

A few hands later, Chidwick open-jammed for about 100,000 from the hijack and Ben Heath three-bet to 170,000 on the button. Juan Pardo then four-bet to 350,000 in the big blind and Heath folded.

Stephen Chidwick: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Juan Pardo: {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The flop landed {3-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{10-Clubs} to give Chidwick additional outs with a gutshot, but unfortunately for the British high stakes crusher the board bricked out {7-Diamonds}{6-Spades} to mark his elimination.

Pardo's River Raise Gets Called

Level 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Juan Pardo limped in from the small blind and Stephen Chidwick checked his big blind. The flop came {9-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Pardo check-called a bet of 60,000 from Chidwick. The {k-Clubs} hit the turn and both players checked to the {8-Diamonds} on the river.

Pardo checked again and Chidwick threw in a bet of 105,000. Pardo mulled it over before check-raising to 350,000. Chidwick used three of his time banks before making the call. Pardo showed {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for two pair and Chidwick was left with just 35,000 chips after the hand.
