Duek Takes Multi-Way Pot

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante
Michael Duek
Michael Duek

Tom-Aksel Bedell opened to 2,000 from under the gun and both Michael Duek in the hijack and Joni Jouhkimainen on the button made the call.

All three players checked through to the river on a board showing {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. Bedell checked a third time and Duek sized to 7,500. Jouhkimainen and Bedell quickly folded and the pot was sent to Duek.

Meanwhile on another table, Sam Haddad, and Imad Derwiche were eliminated from the tournament.

Cowen Extends His Lead; Josephy Sent To The Rail

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante
Cliff Josephy
Cliff Josephy

Sam Haddad limped in for 1,000 under the gun and Cliff Josephy called 1,000 next to act. It folded to Robert Cowen on the button who raised to 3,500 and both Haddad and Josephy called.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and action checked to Cowen who continued for 4,000. Haddad quickly folded and Josephy potted to 24,000. Cowen moved all in and Josephy called for his remaining 10,000.

Cliff Josephy: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Robert Cowen: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

Cowen was in the lead with ace-king but would need to dodge a lot of outs for Josephy. The board ran out {6-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} and the two pair for Cowen held up to send Josephy to the exit.

Simao Flops a Boat; Hendrix Eliminated

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 0 ante
Adam Hendrix
Adam Hendrix

All the chips went in the middle between Adam Hendrix and Joao Simao, who was all in for roughly 30,000 on a flop showing {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}.

Joao Simao: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Adam Hendrix: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Hendrix had rockets but was in rough shape against the flopped full house for Simao. The board ran out {5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and the nines-full held up to score a full double up off of Hendrix. A short while later Hendrix would get his remaining chips in and hit the rail when he couldn't find improvement.

Meanwhile Shaun Deeb and Jason Mercier late registered to join the PLO action.

Robert Cowen
Robert Cowen

The action was picked up in a pot of 22,500 on a flop showing {9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. Robert Cowen checked from under the gun to Dylan Smith in the cutoff who bet full pot. Cowen made the call and the {j-Spades} hit the turn.

Cowen checked again and Smith quickly pushed forward a stack of blue 5,000 chips to put Cowen all in. Cowen snap-called and the cards were on their backs.

Robert Cowen: {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}
Dylan Smith: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Smith held aces while Cowen had a full wrap. The river fell the {3-Spades}, giving Cowen a straight and secured the massive double up off Smith.
