Lin Yong has got his Day 2 off to a great start and the US player had not long doubled through from Arnold Chan before becoming embroiled in another monster pot, this one against ‘Juicy’ Sixiao Li.

We missed the pre-flop action but arrived in time to see all the chips go in on a two-nine-five flop. The pot was a sizable one and Yong had the best of it with a set of twos – Li mucked as soon as his hand was turned over and she headed for the rail while Yong stacked up to over 160,000.

Rough Start for Chan

Hong Kong’s Arnold Chan is not getting the start he wanted and has just lost another hand. This time Lin Yong taking a bite out of Chan’s stack with both players getting all the chips is pre once again. Yong had nine-ten suited while Chan held ace-king.

Unfortunately for Chan, Yong paired his nine, and with no ace or king making a showing he climbed to 92,000 after the hand while Chan slumped to 47,000 and did not look happy about this at all.

Action Aplenty With Cards in the Air

The cards are now in motion here at the Poker King Club at the Venetian, with the surviving Day 1 players starting how they finished the previous day’s play – with lots of action.

Many of the numerous short stacks are attempting to go big or go home, with Li Xiaodong doing the latter, though not by choice we assume. Down to his last 7,500 Xiaodong got this in on the first orbit with , running into the of Weizhou Zha.

The board ran out to give Xiaodong an open-ended straight draw, but this was as good as it got, with the turn and river running out and respectively to send Xiaodong packing and bring Zha up to over 100,000.

Two of the other short-stacks ran a little better with Lei Jichong running his tiny 7,800 up to 12,400 and getting all of this in pre-flop with against big blind Lester Edoc’s pretty looking .

Jichong paired his ace on the flop, improving to an unneeded flush when the turn and river ran out and respectively to climb to 26,600 while Edoc dropped a little to 42,000.

China’s Yang Chao went one better and scored a triple up, eliminating the unfortunate Jiang Xiao Feng in the process. Chao and Feng got all the chips in pre-flop with Yang Hua, who had them both covered, also making the call.

While Chao found his ace-eight dominated by both opponent’s ace-queen the flop was a kind one, falling to give him top pair and the flush re-draw, which immediately came in on the turn. The river was merely a formality and Chao tripled to 75,900, Feng busted and Hua dropped to 50,000.

Wang Yongbin secured himself a double at Arnold Chan’s expense, with the chips all going in pre-flop. It was a flip with Yongbin holding and Chan having . The flop fell to give Yongbin top pair and a flush draw and the turn locked in the double. Yongbin climbed to 29,400 while Chan dropped to 75,000.

Poker King Cup Macau 2017 Main Event Day 2 Set to Start

Nearly game time on Day 2 of the Poker King Cup Macau Main Event

With the three starting flights now out of the way all the remaining players have assembled for the first time for Day 2 of the Poker King Cup Macau 2017 Main Event.

A total of 231 players have so far successfully circumnavigated the tournament minefield and with registration now closed, that looks set to shrink when play resumes at 1pm local time (GMT+7).

Day 1A frontrunner Alex Lee from Singapore heads into today as the overall chip leader with 191,500, though the USA’s Benjamin Hamnett (another Day 1A entrant) is close behind and will be starting play with 180,900.

Other notable stacks heading into Day 2 include Day 1B top dog Wei Guoliang (179,100) and Day 1C chip leader Yah Loon Lim (177,300) with India’s Bobbie Suri (161,300) rounding out the top five.

A total of 490 players – 69 Day 1A entrants, 131 Day 1B entrants and 290 Day 1C entrants – anted-up the HK$15,000+1,500 buy-in to smash the HK$5 guarantee and balloon the prize pool to HK$7,129,000 (~US$915,295). With the top 63 getting paid and a min-cash good for HK$26,000 168 will be leaving empty handed.

However, all eyes will be on the trophy, title, and massive HK$1,389,000 (~$178,333) first prize. Level length has now increased from 40 to 60 minutes and play will start at level 12 with blinds of 800/1,600 with a 200 running ante and conclude at the end of level 18.

Whether play reaches the hallowed money spots before the end of the day remains to be seen, but one thing we are sure of is that the competition will be fierce and we expect to see some scintillating poker.
