Day 1F of the Suncity Cup Finale Macau Good to Go
Greetings once again poker fans, and welcome back to the PokerNews live coverage of the 2017 Suncity Cup Finale Macau, brought to you from the Poker King poker room at the Venetian Macau.
This is the sixth and final regular structured starting flight with the other two turbo flights running at 5pm local time (GMT+8) on Tuesday, 28 November and 5pm on Wednesday, 29 November. While the PokerNews live coverage will only apply to the regular flight players can still win themselves a Day 2 seat should they not be successful today.
There is also still and an HK$20,000 buy-in deep-stacked tournament and an HK$50,000 High Roller left to play out, though again, there will be no live coverage.
However, it is the $8M GTD Suncity Cup Main Event that will be attracting the most attention and this will be the only event with PokerNews live coverage.
Boasting an affordable HK$6,600 (~US$845) buy-in the tournament looks primed to attract an eclectic mix of keen recreational players and seasoned professionals, all eager to win a share of the HK$8M (~US$1M) guaranteed prize pool.
There are eight starting flights to chose from, including two with turbo structures, giving players the ultimate in flexibility when it comes to choosing when and how to begin their quest for glory.
Players buying into any of the Day 1 Main Event flights sit down with 15,000 chips and play eighteen 40-minute levels with blinds starting at 25/50. Late registration is open until the start of the level 10 and multiple re-entries are permitted while late registration is available.
Players are allowed to play more than one Day 1, but should they progress to Day 2 more than once, only their largest stack is taken through with them. Play continues on Day 1 until only 15 percent of the field remains, with these players making it to Day 2.
In a small twist, it is possible to buy into the HK$8 million guaranteed Main Event on Day 2A or Day 2B for HK$38,000 (US$4,850). Anyone taking this route will receive a 100,000-chip starting stack.

Everything you should know about the upcoming Suncity Cup
A total of 24 players have already locked up their Day 2 seat in the four prior legs that have already played out; the first in Jeju, Korea, running September 24-30, the second at the Poker King Club, Manila, Philippines, running October 13-16, the third at CLBC The Flagship, Taipei, Taiwan, running November 3-5 and the fourth taking place at Paradise City, Incheon, Korea, running November 10-12. A further 42 players have made it through from Days 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D and 1E of the 2017 Suncity Cup Finale Macau to bring the total number of Day 2 players up to 66:

While it’s still early there is a noticeable buzz about the Poker King poker room today and a lot of players milling around looking to enter. With this being the last of the regular structured starting flights it looks as though those who have not yet secured their seat for Day 2A or 2B are in the hunt for that all elusive berth.
So far there are 31 registered entries who are a mix of new faces and players who have already tried their luck and come up short. The action has just got underway and cards are now in the air.

Early Double for Yang

Players are wasting no time getting into the thick of the action and we have not long witnessed a massive pot which played out between Jing Luo and Haiyan Yang that saw the former become the first casualty of the day – but we’re certain Luo won’t be the last.
The hand started off rather innocuously with Luo opening the action with a mid-position raise to 150 and the action folded around to Yang on the button. She peeked down at her cards and threw in a raise, making it 550 to go with Luo the only caller.
The 
flop saw Luo check the action over to Yang, who fired out a pot-sized 1,000 continuation bet. This is where things began to get interesting and Luo check-raised to 2,200 which, after some time in the tank, Yang called.
The 
turn saw Luo fire for close to 5,000 and Yang immediately pulled the trigger, slamming down her entire stack and Luo made an extremely quick call.

While Luo had out-flopped Yang with top two the turn had changed everything and given Yang top set, a fact Luo noted with a heartfelt expletive we will not repeat here. The river was the 
and Luo headed for the rail while Yang stacked up to 30,000 and took an early lead.

Luo Wins a Small One as Blinds Rise

The field is still growing and is up to 100 players, spread over 13 tables and we caught another Luo in action, Xixiang Luo to be exact, who is running better than Jing Luo as Xixiang is still in the tournament.
Following an under-the-gun raise to 150 and calls from the button and small blind, Luo made the call from the big blind and the action went four-way to a flop of 
.
Both the small blind and Luo checked to the raiser, who looked unhappy to have picked up so many customers and checked to the button who also checked, bringing in the 
turn.
After the small blind checked again Luo took a stab for 250 and that was enough to get everyone else to bow out and the Chinese player padded out his stack and climbed to 17,000 just as the blinds went up.

Two Wu’s Win

Hong Kong’s Terence Wu has got his tournament off to a great start and we caught the Macau Poker Cup 27 runner up involved in a sizable pot against a tablemade mid-way through level 2.
With close to 4,500 already in the pot and the flop spread 
, Wu (button) had led out for 2,100, only to see his opponent in the cutoff check raise to 4,500 in total.
That did not deter Wu however, who immediately made the Macau trademark ‘A’ symbol with his hands to signify he was all-in. Wu’s opponent quickly mucked leaving the professional fitness model free to rake in a decent pot and climb to 22,500.
Another Wu whose stack is also moving in the right direction is Hong Kong’s Sam Wu and whom we caught in action in a three-way pot. Wu (small blind) had just checked the 
flop over to the big blind, who checked it over to the under-the-gun raiser who seemed a little gun shy and checked it back.
There was close to 600 in the pot and someone had to win it and that someone was Wu, who opened the 
turn for 500, which was enough to get his two opponents to give it up.

He Busts Zhang

The field has grown to 163 entrants, 158 of whom are still in the running. One of the more recent eliminations is Yi Zhang whom we caught in action in an interesting hand.
It was Korea’s Soo Young Kim who started things off with an under-the-gun limp before China’s Zhiao He bumped it up to 350 from the hi-jack. Zhang called from the button before a player in the small blind squeezed to 1,150 in total.
Kim made a quick fold and the action was on He once more. The Chinese player was clearly not messing around and four-bet to 3,350. Zhang called off his last 1,825 from the button and the small blind got out of the way.
