Gerard Flushes Yang

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Edwin Gerard
Edwin Gerard

Hsiao Yun Yang's stock has fallen further and he is reeling like a punch drunk boxer after going another round with Edwin Gerard, who has padded his chip lead out still further at Yang's expense.

We picked up the action on the river in a blind vs blind battle between the two, just as Gerard fired out a 9,100 river bet into a pot of significantly more on a board reading {9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

Yang called just as we arrived, and looked disgusted when Gerard turned over {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for the nut flush, pitching his cards into the muck and slumping to around 75,000 or so, while Gerard climbed to 175,000.

Gerard Halts Yang, Yang and Lin Battle Again

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

In the last few orbits since we caught Hsiao Yun Yang in action, his stack has taken a bit of a hit with the beneficiary being the USA's Edwin Gerard, who has stacked up to 145,000, making him the current frontrunner, with Yang dropping down to 125,000.

Dropping a chunk of chips did not deter Yang from tangling with Chen An Lin not long afterward though. It was Lin the instigator once again, making it 2,300 to go from the cutoff, with Yang making the call from the small blind to take play heads-up once the player in the big blind mucked.

Both players checked the monochrome {q-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop, opening the door for Yang to take a stab on the {2-Diamonds} turn for 3,600, which was enough to get Lin to give it up.

Yang Three-bets Lin

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Chen An Lin opened the action from under-the-gun to 2,400 and received zero respect for his early position raise, with Hsiao Yun Yang re-raising to 7,400 in total. That folded the rest of the table out, with Lin mulling it over before throwing in the call to take play heads-up to a flop of {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}.

Following a check from Lin, Yang fired out a continuation bet of 6,500 and that was enough to win him the pot when Lin folded, dropping below the average stack of 66,000 and leaving Yang to rake in yet another pot.

Ho Sets a Trap for Siow

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Choy Wing Ho
Choy Wing Ho

Graeme Siow had been surfing a short stack since getting back from the dinner break, and despite taking down the blinds and ante two hands in a row the Singaporean couldn't make it three from three after walking into the bear trap set by Choy Wing Ho.

Siow had shoved from the big blind the hand previously and looked poised to do so again when Ho tossed in a 1,000 call from early position. The player in the hijack made the call and action folded to the player on the button who tanked for close to three minutes before realizing action was on him, then immediately folded sheepishly.

Siow made a speedy shove and was beaten into the pot by Ho, folding out the player in the hijack and the cards were revealed.

Graeme Siow: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Choy Wing Ho: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

Siow was the at-risk player and was up against the best starting hand in poker, and while the {j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop brought the Singaporean some hope, the {5-Spades} turn left him looking for the decks two remaining jacks, which failed to materialize on the {2-Spades} river, thinning the field by one.
