Vitalijs Zavorotnijs opened to 12,000 in the cutoff and boar vehicular man-slaughterer Kai Nicholls three-bet to 135,000 in the small blind. Zavorotnijs called.
Nicholls bet around 200,000 on the flop of 9♣8♦5♥ and Zavorotnijs folded with less.
Samuel Laskowitz opened to 12,000 in the hijack and Adam Hendrix three-bet to 33,000 in the cutoff. Cary Katz then four-bet jammed a stack of 142,000 in the small blind as Laskowitz re-shoved a slightly bigger stack.
"Uh-oh! I wasn't worried about him," said Katz as Hendrix folded what he later said was pocket tens.
Cary Katz: A♥K♠
Samuel Laskowitz: J♣J♥
The flop landed Q♥4♠10♥ and Katz called for the dealer to give Laskowitz a set as the J♠ turn landed to give Katz Broadway. Laskowitz then successfully called for the board to pair as the 10♦ gave him a full house and gave Hendrix what would have been quads.
Justin Young opened on the button and Michael Rossitto three-bet jammed in the small blind. Young, who said he had only looked one card and it was an ace, looked at his second card and called.
Michael Rossitto: A♠10♦
Justin Young: A♣Q♦
Rossitto was dominated and couldn't improve as the board ran out J♠3♠7♥J♥K♣ to mark his elimination.
Shortly after, qualifier Sherif El Messiri was eliminated at the same table.
Jeff Platt and Justin Young played an uneventful limped pot between the blinds, but it ended up being one of the most exciting moments of the day.
As the hand played out, new table edition Kai Nicholls told the table about the time he hit two wild boars while driving on a poker trip in the Czech Republic and was later detained for over three hours at the German border.
"It felt pretty serious," Nicholls said about the October 2025 incident, adding that he is still awaiting his punishment for fleeing the scene of the "hit and run."
Nicholls said there was "hardly any damage, surprisingly," to the car, but the feral pigs weren't so lucky.
"I folded just to listen to this story!" said Michael Rossitto.
Meanwhile, the hand played out as Platt and Young checked on the flop of 6♦8♥10♠. Platt then called a bet of 5,000 on the A♣ turn and bet 18,000 on the 2♣ river to take down the pot.
Unlike those boars, Young, who has nursed a short stack the last few levels, will live to see another day.
