Esenkulov is all Heart

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We caught the action on the river with the board reading {j-Hearts}{k-Spades}{q-Clubs} {9-Hearts}{a-Hearts} and a sizable amount of chips already in the center of the table.

Sitting in the cutoff Esenkulov has a bet totaling roughly 12,500 or so out on the felt and is facing an all-in from button Qifeng Duan.

“Will you fold if I show?” quizzed Esenkulov.

“Hmm, ok you did show me you had queens earlier,” replied Duan.

“I’m going to fold this then,” said Esenkulov, rolling over {5-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a small heart flush. The rest of the table looked perplexed until Duan obligingly turned over {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

“Nice fold man,” said Duan as he raked in the pot.

That canny fold saved the Russian a hell of a lot of chips – many players would have happily called off there but then it’s just like Kenny Rogers says (or sings) poker is all about knowing when to hold’em and knowing when to fold’em.
