€50,000 Super High Roller
Day 1 Started
After many years of the European Poker Tour (EPT) finishing its season in Prague, its rebranded PokerStars Championship is about to do the same in 2017 with 43 action-packed tournaments at the Casino Atrium Prague in Hilton Prague. Action got underway 3 days ago and the first trophies have already been awarded. Action runs till December 18.
While this is the first-ever PokerStars Championship Prague, PokerStars is far from new to visiting the Czech capital with the EPT going to the city 10 times in the past. Last year, Netherlands' Jasper Meijer van Putten outlasted a huge field of 1,192 entrants to win the €5,300 EPT Prague Main Event for €699,300. The Dutchman returned to Prague this year and has already locked up some loot, winning the €10,000 High Roller for the 2nd biggest prize of his career.
Today, the €50,000 Super High Roller kicks off. Last year, as part of the EPT, Leon Tsoukernik took down the event for €741,100.
This year, PokerNews will be bringing you feature style content, with live updates solely on the PokerStars Blog. Today's event kicks off at 12:30 (in about two hours) with players getting a 250,000 starting stack. The first level of play is 500/1,000 with an ante of 100. There are 8 levels scheduled for today, no dinner break but 20-minute breaks after every two levels. Levels will be, as per usual, 60 minutes long.

Last year, much-discussed British poker player Will Kassouf capped off his breakout 2016 by chopping the €10K High Roller right here in Prague, back when this event was still under the EPT banner. Kassouf is back and has made his way into the money in the €1,100 National Championship, and PokerNews spoke with him on a recent break.
He has $6,009,302 in live tournament cashes, but not a single win. $3,874,454 of that came in 2017, but still without a single winner's photo. Daniel Dvoress is arguably the best player in the world without a trophy on his mantle. We caught up with him in the first break of the €50,000 Super High Roller event at the PokerStars Championship Prague to talk about the best year of his poker career. Read all about it, on the PokerNews homepage.
The €50K Super High Roller at PokerStars Championship Prague wrapped up a relatively short Day 1 with 19 of the 28 entries making it through to Day 2, although registration remains open until said Day 2 begins. Koray Aldemir leads the remaining players, having run his 250,000 up to 812,000.
