Stone Cold Varnell

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Craig Varnell, always easy to spot due to his inseparable orange Denver Broncos cap, showed some of his poker prowess in a hand that left his tablemates in bewilderment. After a raise to 1,500 in middle position, Varnell made the call from the cutoff. On the button, a player reraised to 6,200, the initial raiser folded and Varnell quickly called again.

The flop was {8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Varnell check-called a bet of 5,200. On the {K-Diamonds} turn, Varnell checked, the button bet 8,500, Varnell check-raised to 21,100 and got called, which left the player on the button with just 9,600 behind.

The river was the {10-Spades} and Varnell flicked in a couple of T-5,000 chips to put his opponent to the test. After already committing the majority of his stack, the player on the button elected to fold his hand on the final card.

To the table's surprise, Varnell slammed open {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for just a pair of fours and casually raked in the pot.
