Falcon Back in It

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

While Changjo Im has been flying under the radar thus far and appears to be one of the chip leaders, Linh Tran has been steadily grinding up a stack. Celine Lee also bumped her stack to three times of what she started with while Michael Falcon is on bullet number three for Day 1b. Will the third time be a charm?

High Roller champion Peter Plater has not re-entered yet after losing his short stack some time ago and he can do so until the end of level nine and following break.

"Ship It To Papa!"

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

A loud celebration emerged with a "ship it to papa" coming from one of the outer tables and, once arrived there, the board showed {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}. A triumphant van Tran Thanh raked in the pot, having just eliminated an opponent. According to players at the table, Thanh got it in after the turn with {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds} versus {J-}{10-} and spiked the flush on the river to score the knockout.

Li and Edoc on the Way Back

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

After a raise to 2,500 and a call by the player in the cutoff, Lester Edoc called on the button and the trio saw a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. The initial raiser continued for 3,000 and that forced one fold before the action was on Edoc, who raised to 8,500. After plenty of consideration, that resulted in a fold and Edoc was shown {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for top pair.

"We had the same hand, but I had hearts," Edoc said with a grin and raked in the pot.

Shengyu Li also bumped his stack slightly after defending his big blind to a raise of 1,800. Li check-called the bet of the cutoff for 2,500 on the {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop and did so again for 4,500 on the {A-Clubs} turn. The {Q-Clubs} fell on the river and Li made it 10,500 to claim the pot uncontested.

Three in a Row for Brunner

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

While we have yet to catch him in any significant pots Michael Brunner has evidently been playing a few and his stack is reduced a little from his earlier high of 120,000.

However, Brunner has just padded this out a little after taking down three back to back pots with some well-timed aggression.

In the first, there was an early position raise to 1,600 with Brunner coming over the top for 4,000 in total to take down the pot uncontested.

Brunner opened for 3,000 the next hand and found no customers. We were finally treated to a flop the hand after when for a pleasant change of pace Brunner limped from under-the-gun plus one and ended up heads-up versus the big blind.

The player in the big blind checked the {2-Hearts}{j-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop over to Brunner, who checked it back and the {9-Diamonds} hit the turn. After the big blind checked for a second time Brunner took a stab for 2,000 and made it three from three, climbing back up to 112,500.

Edoc's Move Gones Wrong Against Chong

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Joining the action on the {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop of a three-bet pot, featuring Lester Edoc and James Chong, it was the former that checked to the latter. Chong bet 8,000 and the third player in the hand folded before Edoc check-raised all in. Chong called with {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and had to fear two outs only, as Edoc held pocket nines.

Neither the {3-Hearts} turn nor the {4-Diamonds} river improved Edoc and he slipped below the starting stack.

Chhabria Rivers Oluwole

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

There was an under-the-gun limp and a call from Shravan Chhabria before a player in late position juiced the action to 2,000 in total. Big blind Seun Oluwole made the call, as did the UTG limper and Chhabria to take the action four-way to a flop of {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

With so many players in the hand, no-one seemed keen to bet and the action was checked around with the {9-Clubs} landing on the turn.

Oluwole was first to act and led out for 3,000 with Chhabria the only caller and the {4-Clubs} river completed the hand and the betting.

Oluwole flashed Chhabria the {10-Diamonds} and the Indian player apologized and flipped over {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a rivered two pair.

“It’s ok,’ chuckled Oluwole, “I wanted the call.”

Chhabria raked in the pot and climbed to 106,000 while Oluwole took a slight hit and dropped down to 54,000.

Tran Gets Value from Lim

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante
Linh Tran
Linh Tran

Catching the tail action of a hand between Linh Tran in the big blind and Jaehyun Lim from early position, a pot of 12,000 had emerged and the board was already complete, showing {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. Tran bet 8,000 and Lim took his time before tossing in the chips for the call, which saw Tran roll over {10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} for tens and sevens to win the pot and chip up well above average.

Lim slipped just below the average, while just 105 players out of 160 entries remain.

Oluwole Folds Out Phua

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Seun Oluwole limped under-the-gun, Chris Morrison limped the button and small blind Johnson Tan completed before big blind Si Yang Phua squeezed to 2,300 in total.

Oluwole called, Morrison folded and Tan also called to take the action three-way to a flop of {q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}.

Tan checked and Phua continuation bet 3,600 and Oluwole then raised to 8,000 in total. While that was enough to get Tan to fold Phua decided to peel one and made the call with the {2-Spades} hitting the turn.

Phua now checked over to Oluwole, who continued the aggression with a bet of 13,500, which was enough to take down the hand. Oluwole was a late arrival but has been busy and has run his stack up to 60,000 with Phua and Tan dropping down to 51,100 and 25,000 respectively.
