Yi Folds Out Advani

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Romit Advani is looking a little short and his situation did not improve after the following hand. Advani was the man driving the action with a mid-position raise to 7,600 with Korea’s Seung Yong Yi (small blind) and Finland’s Niilo Heinikangas (big blind) making the call to take the action three-way to a flop of {4-Spades}{5-Spades}{j-Clubs}.

Both Yi and Heinikangas checked the action over to Advani, who continuation bet 11,000, leaving himself 46,000 behind. Yi then check-raised to 25,000 to send Advani into the think tank, where he remained for several minutes.

Eventually, the Indian player decided to wait for a better spot and let it go, leaving Yi to collect the pot and climb to over 200,000.

Wu Doubles

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Manila Megastack 7 champion Po-Yi Wu opened the action from early position with a raise to 5,600 with Chi Thinh Nguyen (cutoff) the only caller.

Wu continuation bet the {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop to the tune of 8,500 and Nguyen made a quick call to bring the action to the {7-Spades} turn.

Wu eyed up his opponent for a few seconds and then moved all-in for 39,300 in total and Chi had a decision to make. After counting down his stack the Vietnamese player decided he had chips to spare and threw in the call.

Unfortunately for Nguyen, his Taiwanese opponent was holding [acd], which had Nguyen’s {k-Clubs}{q-Spades} drawing pretty thin and the river was not a king. Wu doubled to 94,300 while Nguyen dropped to 117,000.

Kenny Shih: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Chee Sun Tong: {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Sparrow Cheung
Sparrow Cheung

Joining the action on the {Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds} turn, Euryd Rivera and Sparrow Cheung invested 15,000 each to see the {6-Spades} appear on the turn. Rivera bet 15,000 and Cheung asked to see the stack of his opponent. He then took some time before moving all in for more than 60,000 and Rivera took equally long to call it off for slightly less.

Euryd Rivera: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Sparrow Cheung: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}

The {J-Hearts} river was a blank and Rivera was eliminated.

Over on table one, a costly misstep may have put fellow Asian Player of the Year contender Pete Chen at a disadvantage against Cheung. In a raising war, Chen faced a three-bet to 12,200 by Segundo Barte and eventually put the Filipino at risk.

Segundo Barte: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Pete Chen: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}

The board came {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and the pair of queens held up. "How much is it?" Chen asked and his eyes grew bigger when Barte's stack was counted to be for 142,200, a hugeportion of Chen's stack.

Moon Busts Bui

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Jongyoung Moon opened the action with a raise to 6,000 and small blind Hoon Chai Ra flat called before Duc Bui moved all-in from the big blind for another 47,800.

Moon re-shoved to isolate, sending Ra deep into the think tank, where he remained for a good five minutes until an irate tablemate called for the clock. Ra let the full minute pass before open-folding {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} and the other two players turned their hands over.

Duc Bui: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Jongyoung Moon: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The {2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{a-Hearts} flop put Moon in front and Ra looked pretty happy with his fold. The {10-Hearts} turn and {4-Hearts} river provided Bui no help and he headed for the rail while Moon stacked up to 230,000
