Large Field Gathers; Day 1c PokerStars Main Event Rozvadov Breaks Records

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Sven Weide Tops Day 1c
Sven Weide Tops Day 1c

Day 1c of the PokerStars Festival Main Event Rozvadov is in the books! No less than 475 poker enthusiasts gathered at King's Casino, bumping the total field up to 913 entrants. It's already the largest PokerStars event ever in "RozVegas", and with Day 1d putting the event over 1,000 runners it will also surpass the inaugural PokerStars Festival London Main Event total of 944.

Germany's Sven Weide (212,000) topped the 212 runners that survived, closely followed by Russia's Anton Lepshokov (193,200). Cenk Oguz from Belgium has one ante less and sits in third with 193,000. Hometown heroes Petr Targa (170,800), Lukas Zaskodny (147,900) and Martin Staszko (146,200) finished in the top 10.

The top 5 after Day 1c is as follows:

#PlayerCountryChip Count
1Sven WeideGermany212,000
2Anton LepshokovRussia193,200
3Cenk OguzBelgium193,000
4Martin KristellerGermany180,000
5Jan Timo JobmannGermany173,100

Players showed up in droves for the third of four starting days and 250 players took their seat directly at the start. It's a testament to the appeal that King's Casino has on poker players all around Europe, who are finding their way to the small Czech municipal more and more.

The winner and runner-up of the inaugural Festival in London, Rehman Kassam and Daniel Harwood, were among those to play today. Harwood's attempt at another big cash was cut short when he ran a set of fours into a turned straight and didn't fill up. Kassam survived the day with 117,000 in chips and still has a shot to go back to back.

A lot of well-known players entered Day 1c but failed to advance to the next day. Among them were Emrah Cakmak, Pierre Mothes Clyde Tjauw Foe, Raoul Refos, Kully Sidhu, Jerome Sgorrano, Walter Buss and Miroslav Forman. Although they were left empty-handed, they still have a shot in the Day 1d turbo if they do so desire. Updates of Day 1d can be found here.

Among those who survived were Team PokerStars Online aces Jaime Staples and Randy "nanonoko" Lew. Both popular streamers made their appearance in Rozvadov and survived the day, with Lew sitting at 120,900 and Staples bringing back 25,700. They will return on Day 2 and with no doubt be followed by many fans on Twitch as they progress through the tournament.

2011 WSOP runner-up and local hero Martin Staszko had a strong showing, ending at 146,200. Stazsko already cashed the €5,300 King's High Roller earlier this week and is looking to go two for two. Other notables to make it through were Jan-Peter Jachtmann (112,500), David Urban (72,300), Huseyin Arkun (71,000), Elena Litvinyuk (68,200), Martin Bartos (43,000), Quentin Lecomte (33,600) and EUREKA 6 Prague winner Hubert Matuszewski (16,900).

Day 2 will start tomorrow at noon and all Day 1 players will be back to continue the tournament. Levels will be bumped up to 60 minutes and there are a whopping 12 levels scheduled to be played. The blinds will start at 800 / 1,600 with an ante of 200. The final day is scheduled on Monday, where we will crown a new PokerStars Festival Main Event winner. Check PokerNews throughout the long Sunday for all live updates from the floor as the action in Rozvadov heats up!

Martin Kristeller has worked himself up to a towering stack of 190,000. Two big hands in quick succession helped in acquiring the massive stack.

In the first hand, Kristeller made a hero call with {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} on {7-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{5-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds} against Roman Sokolov. Sokolov had just {A-Spades}{6-Spades} for a pair of sixes and dropped some chips to the German.

Shortly after, Kristeller and Marc Furstenau saw a flop of {8-Spades}{J-Spades}{4-Hearts} appear. Furstenau checked, Kristeller bet 2,600, Furstenau check-raised to 8,525 and Kristeller called. On the {6-Hearts} turn, Furstenau went all in for his last 15,000 and Kristeller called instantly.

Martin Kristeller: {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Marc Furstenau: {A-Spades}{4-Spades}

The river was the {10-Clubs} and Furstenau missed his flush draw. Kristeller moved up to 190,000 after the hand and has overtaken Norbert Berent as the chipleader.

Double Seat Open Vaults Harris into a Bigger Stack

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante
Carl Harris
Carl Harris

Gabriel Mayer opened the action with a raise and short stack Drazen Hadur shoved from the small blind for around 10,000. Carl Harris in the big blind, who was sitting on an already impressive big stack, looked up Hadur and Mayer had around 17,000 left. The German eventually called with the words "I can't get out of that one anymore" and the cards were tabled.

Drazen Hadur: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Gabriel Mayer: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Carl Harris: {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The board ran out {2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and the double knockout further increased the stack of Harris.

Team PokerStars Online Pro and Twitch hero Jaime Staples has decided to join in on the fifth level of the day. Now, we're not suggesting anything, but Staples partied it up quite a bit last night at the PokerStars Players Party. Maybe, just maybe, a few extra hours were needed this morning.

Luckily, what happens in Rozvadov is plastered all over the internet. Read all about Staples busting a move in the PokerStars Blog.

Daniel Harwood Eliminated

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Daniel Harwood at PSF London
Daniel Harwood at PSF London

PokerStars Festival London Main Event runner-up Daniel Harwood, who cashed $118,738 back in January, has just been eliminated from the tournament. There were already many chips in the middle when Harwood shoved all in with {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} on a {J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} board.

"I'll double-check if I have nine-eight, or eight-seven", his opponent Scott Hanna said, who proceeded to check his hole cards. After the snap-call, it was obvious which holding it was. The {Q-Clubs} on the river didn't pair the board and Harwood headed for the rail.

All the Way from India

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante
Siddharth Jain
Siddharth Jain

Siddharth Jain is one of the players who entered on Day 1c. Jain hails from India and qualified online on PokerStars for just €20. The 35-year old, who lived for a long time in America, moved to Mumbai in India six years ago. He travelled 3,908 miles to get to Rozvadov, as it sounded like a great destination for him to visit.

Jain is absolutely no slouch when it comes to poker; he had a deep run at the 2006 WSOP Main Event, where he finished 26th for $494,797. He also played in a lot of EPT Main Events. We'll keep an eye on Jain as he will find out how far his €20 investment in this trip will take him.
