Short Staples Doubles Up

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Jaime Staples
Jaime Staples

Jaime Staples was down to his last 15,100 and seated in the big blind. Anatolii Zyrin opened in early position and a player in late position called. Staples committed his stack, Zyrin reshoved and the other player folded.

Jaime Staples: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Anatolii Zyrin: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

A little sweat for Staples as the board ran out {2-Spades}{9-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} but the Twitch-hero's pocket fives held up for the double.

Clyde Tjauw Foe, Raoul Refos and Farid Chati hopped on the plane from Amsterdam to Prague in the wee hours of the morning. Sleepy-eyed, they tried their luck at Day 1c, but the trio busted in quick succession. They all announced to be back tonight and take a second shot in the Day 1d turbo.

Kristeller is on a Rampage

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Martin Kristeller
Martin Kristeller

Martin Kristeller has worked himself up to a towering stack of 190,000. Two big hands in quick succession helped in acquiring the massive stack.

In the first hand, Kristeller made a hero call with {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} on {7-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{5-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds} against Roman Sokolov. Sokolov had just {A-Spades}{6-Spades} for a pair of sixes and dropped some chips to the German.

Shortly after, Kristeller and Marc Furstenau saw a flop of {8-Spades}{J-Spades}{4-Hearts} appear. Furstenau checked, Kristeller bet 2,600, Furstenau check-raised to 8,525 and Kristeller called. On the {6-Hearts} turn, Furstenau went all in for his last 15,000 and Kristeller called instantly.

Martin Kristeller: {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Marc Furstenau: {A-Spades}{4-Spades}

The river was the {10-Clubs} and Furstenau missed his flush draw. Kristeller moved up to 190,000 after the hand and has overtaken Norbert Berent as the chipleader.

Norbert Berent Claims the Chip Lead

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Three players saw the {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop together with about 5,000 in the middle. Imad Moumen checked. Norbert Berent bet 2,200, the third player folded, Moumen check-raised to 7,300 and Berent called. On the {7-Diamonds} turn, the Frenchman bet 8,800 and Berent called again.

The river was the {6-} and Moumen fired out a hefty bet of 38,000. Berent snap-called with {A-}{J-} for top two pair, Moumen sheepishly showed {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and had to part with a massive part of his stack. With a whopping 160,000, Berent is the new chipleader.
