Armen Atanesyan started the day with 85,000 and is now a very relieved man having been out of the tournament and subsequently reinstated after the Tournament Director was consulted for a second opinion.
There were 107 players reamaining in tournament at the time with 103 getting paid so it was a tense time for all the short stacks.
Atanesyan had called his opponent all the way down to the river of a Queen high board. His opponent shoved for 75,000 and Atanesyan called for his last 70,000.
The problem became apparent when Atanesyan turned over ![]()

He had top pair top kicker but also three cards. The initial ruling was that his hand was dead and he was eliminated.
After further discussion however the ruling was reversed. It had been a genuine mistake but more importantly it was for his tournament life at a crucial time and he had merely called on the end with a smaller stack.
If he had been the player to shove on the river and gained an advantage the ruling would most likely have been Atanesyan’ elimination.
A tough decision the other floor people agreed but made with fairness and the integrity of the game uppermost in their minds.
A cheer rang out around the tournament area as the remaining players were told they had all made the money.
Just as hand-for-hand began there were three simultaneous eliminations, two on one table and a further one at the other end of the room.
Time for celebrations and short stack shoving.
The tournament is now hand-for-hand on the money bubble.
Armen Hachatryan had a stack of 222,600 taken from his bag this morning and placed at the table but he won’t be getting anywhere near it.
Hachatryan is notorious for his bad behaviour at the tables and the tournament organisers have finally had enough. There wasn’t one particular incident that got him banned but the constant abuse of dealers, floor staff and other players with excessive bad language was too much and he had finally exhausted everyone’s patience.
His stack will remain in play but it will be blinded out.
Armen Hachatryan is now banned from Sochi Casino for the foreseeable future.
*This article was amended at 22:45 to reflect corrected information that Hachatryan has been blacklisted at Sochi Casino and not, as previously reported, all PokerStars tournaments. He finished in 74th place for 120,000 RUB.

Just 2 more players busted since the last update and the remaining players have now gone on a 15-minute break.
The bubble will surely burst in the next hour long level.
There are 112 players left with 103 spot paid so it won't be too long before they are hand-for -hand on the money bubble.
