It's a day several months in the making, one that ushers in a new era of PokerStars events.

PokerStars Ontario launched back in June for players in Canada's most populous province, and today a new champion will be determined when the inaugural Ontario Championship of Online Poker (ONCOOP) resumes at 7:05 p.m. ET.

Event 61-L: $50 NLHE [8-Max, Main Event - Low] returns with just 21 players remaining out of a starting field of 724. They include Justin "birddy420" Ouimette (1,454,266), whose more than $350,000 in career earnings include a win in a PokerStars Championship Bahamas side event in 2017. Poker journalist Gareth "GarethC23" Chantler is in sixth place with 2,010,717, while Jeffrey "Jefffrr8" Reardon begins with a top-10 stack of 1,792,030.

They, and the rest of the remaining field, are looking up at chip leader "hittinthebax," who built up a massive stack of 4,586,504 on Day 1. In second place is "ShowYouHow" (3,687,899), followed by "gellyfish112" (2,772,277) and "SmartAcesGuy" (2,385,234).

The surviving players have already locked up $236.69 out of the $40,000 guaranteed prize pool. The player left standing at the end of the day takes home $6,791.55.

Play will pick up on Level 29, with blinds of 20,000-40,000 and a 5,000 ante. Levels are 15-minutes long until the final table of nine, when they increase to 20 minutes.

By the night's end, only one player will make history as the first-ever PokerStars Ontario champion, and PokerNews will be following all the action and providing live updates.
