Danchev Takes Out Tamasauskas

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Vladas Tamasauskas opened to 1,800 and was promptly three-bet by Dimitar Danchev to 5,400.

Tamasauskas then moved all in for around 23 big blinds and was immediately at risk after being called by Danchev.

Vladas Tamasauskas: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Dimitar Danchev: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Tamasauskas was in good shape to begin the hand but the {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop gave Danchev the lead. The {k-Spades} turn and {10-Diamonds} river was no help, as Tamasauskas saw his day come to an early end.

"I'm Just a Kid With a Dream"

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

The 24-year-old platinum pass winner, Alexander Herrmann, was involved in a pot against Mauricio Pais. Herrmann was in the big blind and Pais was in the cutoff. There was 5,200 in the pot.

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Pais continued for 1,800 when checked to. Herrmann raised to 7,000 and Pais quickly called.

Action checked through on the {a-Spades} turn and the {k-Hearts} river. Herrmann showed {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for top pair. A tablemate said "He's not nervous anymore" as the German took in the pot. Herrmann responded "I'm just a kid with a dream." and another tablemate muttered, "What I'd do to be 24 again."

Lambrecht Loses A Flip

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Platinum Pass winner Hannes Jeschka and Weiran Pu had chips in the middle before Matthew Lambrecht moved all in for 25,500. Jeschka folded before Pu made the call, leaving Lambrecht at risk.

Matthew Lambrecht: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Weiran Pu: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Lambrecht was flipping for his tournament life, but the {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades} runout left Pu's pocket pair in the lead. Lambrecht wished the table good luck on his way to the rail.

"Why Did You Fold?" "'Cuz The Rest of the Table is So Bad"

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

Shaun Deeb was out of position in a heads-up pot against Xuan Liu on a board of {8-Spades}{10-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

Deeb checked on the turn and Liu bet 7,000. Deeb called. Deeb checked again on the {8-Diamonds} river and Liu announced "all in" with Deeb covered, sending the American into a deep tank that extended several minutes. Eventually, Deeb folded to maintain his tournament life.

"Good fold," commented table mate Eric Worre.

"I don't think it was," replied Deeb.

"Then why did you fold?" questioned Liu.

"'Cuz the rest of the table is so bad," replied Deeb as he was met with a big laugh from Worre, though no one else at the table seemed to think it was funny.

"Tell us how you really feel," said Liu.

Rizzo Gets a Caller

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

On a three-way turn board of {j-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, Leonardo Rizzo led into the group for 7,500, which prompted a fold from Lawrence Greenberg and a call from Florent Benlloch.

The river came out the {10-Diamonds} and Rizzo bet out again, this time for 12,000. Benlloch paused for a few moments, deep in thought, and then decided to make the call.

Rizzo then flipped over {j-Spades}{10-Spades} for top-two and Benlloch mucked his hand.

"Man I knew you had a jack, that's why I folded," Lawrence commented as the pot was pushed to Rizzo.

Peters and Kulev Chop One Up

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

David Peters raised to 1,800 from under the gun and was called by Alex Kulev on the button and Laszlo Bujtas in the big blind. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and the action checked to Kulev who bet 1,300. Bujtas stepped aside and Peters called.

The turn was the {2-Hearts} and both players checked to the {2-Clubs} on the river. Peters checked again and Kulev knuckled it back. Peters tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and Kulev found a lucky river with {a-Spades}{7-Spades} to get half of the pot.

Zajmovic Still Remembers How To Play Tournaments

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Ema Zajmovic
Ema Zajmovic

Talal Shakerchi raised it up from under the gun and picked up calls from Ema Zajmovic on the button and the big blind. On a flop of {7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}, Shakerchi continued with a bet of 4,000. Zajmovic called and the big blind got out of the way.

The turn brought the {4-Spades} and Shakerchi tossed in a bet of 6,500. Zajmovic still called and the {j-Spades} completed the board. Shakerchi fired out a third barrel of 10,000 and Zajmovic ripped all in with the big stack. Shakerchi instantly folded and Zajmovic scooped another pot.

As a predominantly high-stakes cash game player now, Zajmovic was heard saying yesterday that she wonders if she still knows how to play tournaments. By the way she is running up her stack today, it appears that she is still well-equipped to hold her own in the tournament fields.
