Nine winners have been crowned so far at the 2026 Potomac Poker Open, with Rick Aasen having kicked things off with his victory in $400 T.O.R.S.E. for $6,620.

Another Event About to Start

We are about a half-hour away from the start of another event here at the 2026 Potomac Summer Poker Open.

Beginning at 2 p.m. local time, players can mix it up with $400 8-Game Mix, a $10,000 guaranteed event consisting of an array of poker variants like Stud, Omaha and 2-7.

The event should draw the local mixed game crushers, maybe including some of the players who cashed last yesterday's $400 PLO Mix.

Field Growing in $500 Monumental Stack

After an early 10 a.m. start here at MGM National Harbor, the field has grown to triple digits on Day 1a of the $500 Monumental Stack.

The $100,000 guaranteed event has 112 runners so far during Level 6, with plenty of time left for players to register. There is also tomorrow's Day 1b flight, which will also kick off at 10 a.m. local time.

The field includes plenty of regulars and players who have already scored results, including Phillip Luy, who just finished third in the $500 Opener for $52,065.

It's time for another day at the 2026 Potomac Summer Poker Open, and it's shaping up to be an eventful one.

Tuesday morning sees the first starting flights of $100,000 guaranteed $500 Monumental Stack. The six-figure guaranteed event should draw sizable fields on Day 1a and Wednesday's Day 1b before playing to a winner on Day 2 on Thursday.

Later in the afternoon will see the start of $400 8-Game Mix, a one-day event with a $10,000 guarantee attached. Another one-day event with a $10,000 guarantee will take place Tuesday evening with $400 Double Stack NLH, which should provide players with plenty of deep-stacked play.

There is also a $250 Main Event Super Satellite to the $3,000 NLH Main Event that guarantees five seats.

Poker Player Chops His First Ever Tournament for $5,328

The $400 NLH Single Re-Entry event wrapped up just with a deal just as the same thing was happening in the $500 Seniors.

The final three players reached an ICM deal that saw Roy Kim winning the trophy and the biggest payout of $7,987. But the real story was Oscar Franquez finishing second for $5,328 in what he told PokerNews was his first-ever tournament.

Bob Crawford also got in on the three-handed deal to win $4,595, while the final table also included Joseph Mirsabile (4th - $2,300), Rammy Barbari (5th -$1,753) and Matthew Scalf (6th - $1,403).

Chris Smith Gets His First Poker Trophy After Heads-Up Deal in $500 Seniors

We spoke too soon about there not being a chop. After nearly an hour of battling, Chris Smith and Teddy Fatovick reached a heads-up deal in the $500 Seniors.

Smith told PokerNews he wanted his first poker trophy, so he proposed a deal as soon as her took the chip lead. Fatovick, who earlier didn't want to take the deal, accepted.

Smith took home his first trophy and $18,532, while Fatovick walked away with $15,079. The final table also included Kelly Smith (3rd - $8,082), Bennedetto Ruffalo (4th -$4,916) and Travis Fouble (5th - $3,797).

Final Two Battling It Out in $500 Seniors

There may have been a full final table chop in Sunday's $330 Super Seniors, but that is not the case in today's $500 Seniors.

There was no deal at this final table, and now Chris Smith and Teddy Fatovick have been battling it out for over 30 minutes. They just took a brief break and are now getting back to their heads-up battle.
