The $300 Womens event is about to kick off inside the MGM National Harbor Poker Room, and the participants got a warm welcome from the tournament staff.
"It's time to shine," the floor said as he announced the tournament.

We're less than two hours into the start of Day 1b, but Waleed Mian has already sent two players packing in the $3,000 Main Event.
The first casualty occurred when a player bluffed all in on the river, but it was poorly timed as Mian called after a two-minute tank.
Some ten minutes later, Valentin Lita found himself all in against Mian with ace-king. But wouldn't you know it, Mian had pocket aces.
Stay out of Mian's way today if you are playing the $3,000 Main Event.
As Day 1b of the $3,000 Main Event gets underway, let's take a moment to congratulate the handful of players who qualified online on BetMGM Poker into the $750,000 guaranteed event.

The second and final starting flight of the $3,000 Main Event is now underway, and it should be quite the flight to keep an eye on.
There are 52 runners so far in level one, and the field will likely grow as players look to claim a piece of the $750,000 guarantee.
The survivors of this flight will join the players who bagged on Day 1a, including poker pros Christian Harder and Justin Liberto and poker coach Faraz Jaka.

Another day, another slate of tournaments at the Potomac Summer Poker Open. Today will see the second and final starting flight of the $3,000 Main Event and three one day events taking place inside the poker room.
Day 1b of the Main Event kicks off at 11 a.m. local time and should see a big field as the event gets closer to reaching the $750,000 guarantee.
Before that, a $500 NLH Freezeout with a $10,000 guarantee will get underway at 9 a.m.
Later this afternoon will see a $300 Women's NLH event with a $10,000 guarantee and a $400 Big O event, also with a $10,000 guarantee attached. Only time will tell if Matt Mullins will final table that one.

Nathan Gamble's summer of PLO 8 dominance continues.
After winning the WSOP $10,000 PLO 8 Championship for $767,395, Gamble dropped stakes and won today's $400 PLO 8 for $8,863.
Gamble had already established himself as the most-decorated PLO 8 player at the WSOP, having won all three of his bracelets in the format (hat-tip to PokerNews' Liam Gannon for this research). Now, he's extending his dominance to other tours.
By happenstance, the player that Gamble beat heads-up this summer, Justin Liberto, bagged a big stack in the $3,000 Main Event across the room.
Look out for Gamble as he celebrates his victory. He's been known to dance on top of a poker table when he gets going.
It's down to six players in $400 PLO 8, and the remaining field includes local mixed game end boss Matt Mullins and three-time bracelet winner Nathan Gamble, who is just weeks removed from winning that third bracelet.
The one-day event will play to a winner tonight and will award $8,863 to the champion.

Conservative commentator Tim Pool told PokerNews he wasn't planning to play today's Day 1a flight, but he got to the poker room with ten minutes left in late registration and he couldn't resist.
He quickly picked up queens to build up a stack, but it all came crashing down after he four-bet jammed into pocket kings, briefly out-flopping his opponent with two pair before a king on the river sent the podcast host packing.
But Pool didn't venture too far, only about 100 feet. He immediately sat down at a $2/$5 cash game table, licking his wounds and taking his lumps just like a true poker player: by chasing his losses.
PokerNews spoke with Pool after his Day 1a bustout, and he talked about his poker background and experience playing at the WSOP this summer. Expect that interview tomorrow.
