Who starts a poker tournament at 8:30 a.m.? Jason Somerville, that's who.
The 2015 Run It Up Reno $565 Main Event began yesterday with Day 1a. Throughout the day, 239 entries were generated, the $100,000 guarantee was surpassed, and 103 competitors remained at the end of the day. Now it's time for a turbo starting day kicking off at 8:30 p.m. local time before Day 2 kicks off at 12 p.m..
The Day 1a chip lead was seized by Suja Juice co-founder Eric Ethans, as he bagged up a very impressive 180,200.
Other notables to advance included mixed-game specialist Michael Trivett (148,500), Dan O'Brien (104,100), Barstool Nate (99,000) and both Survivor players that entered, Rob "Boston Rob" Mariano (65,900) and Tyson Apostol (40,300).
Late registration and reentry will remain open until the first hand is dealt for Day 2, so there's still plenty of time for the field to grow.
Stay tuned for coverage coming your way shortly.
