Somerville Doubles with Kings

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

Tyler Rauh opened the hijack to 700 only to have Jason Somerville three-bet the cutoff to what appeared to be 5,025. The button player then moved all in for roughly 14,000 as Rauh folded and Somerville called all in for 5,950.

Somerville: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Opponent: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}

The {3-Spades}{2-Spades}{9-Spades} flop opened up flush outs for Somerville to fade, and when the {7-Diamonds} and {5-Diamonds} landed on the turn and river, he was ensured a double to over 13,000 in chips.

Mariano Folds River

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Rob Mariano opened from under the gun to 500 and was met with three callers; one of which was Tyson Apostol in the small blind.

The flop fell {2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and following checks from both blinds, Mariano continued for 800.

The player on his immediate left was the only caller as the turn of the {K-Clubs} went check, check.

The river landed the {7-Diamonds} and Mariano check-folded to his opponent's 1,500-chip bet.

Cooper Raises and Folds

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

With roughly 1,300 in the middle and the flop reading {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, Event 1 Champion Michael Cooper checked from the big blind over to his opponent on the button who bet out 850.

Cooper responded by check-raising to 2,150 only to have the button three-bet to 5,850.

Cooper folded his hand and slipped to 14,700 in the process.

Peters Rivered to the Rail by Nevius

Level 2 : 75/150, 25 ante
Donnie Peters
Donnie Peters

From under the gun, Steve Nevius opened to 500 only to have PokerNews Editor-in-Chief Donnie Peters three-bet from the hijack to 1,400.

Nevius called and checked the {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop to Peters who continued for 2,600. Nevius responded with a check-raise all-in and Peters called all-in for roughly his final 10,500.

Peters: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Nevius: {Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

With Peters in great shape with his overpair, the {10-Diamonds} on the turn gave Nevius additional outs to a gutshot straight draw as now any queen, jack or nine would give him the pot.

Unfortunately for Peters, the river would fall the {Q-Spades} and he would be sent to the rail as Nevius moved to roughly 42,500 in chips after knocking out a player earlier in the day.
