Life Outside Poker is a podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the 26th episode, Connor speaks with chess streamer and GGPoker ambassador Alexandra Botez about learning chess and poker from her dad, getting into streaming at Stanford, dealing with online trolls, creating content with her sister Andrea Botez and the similarities between chess and poker.
Botez also talked about winning $456,900 in a legendary 2022 Hustler Casino Livestream that included Phil Hellmuth, Mr. Beast and Ninja, as well as signing on as a GGPoker ambassador and securing two career-high cashes at World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise (she finished 60th in the $10,000 GGMillion$ Championship for $22,190 before finishing 187th in the $25,000 Super Main Event for $67,300).
Richard Bennett raised to 9,000 under the gun, Mark Charleton called in early position, as did the player in the hijack. Aaron Fanuzzi then three-bet shoved from the small blind for 52,000 to put himself at risk. Bennett folded, Charleton reshoved for 53,500 total, and the hijack got out of the way.
Aaron Fanuzzi: K♥10♥
Mark Charleton: A♣J♥
The flop came A♥2♣4♥ with Charleton pairing his ace and Fanuzzi picking up the nut flush draw. The Q♠ rolled off on the turn giving Fanuzzi additional outs to a straight.
The 3♥ river sealed the deal for Fanuzzi, improving him to the nut flush for the double up. Charleton was left with just 1,500 in chips.
Terry Woodbury was short-stacked and all in against Tim McFarland who had the covering stack.
Terry Woodbury: 8♥8♣
Tim McFarland: 7♣7♦
Woodbury pulled ahead even further on the 5♥8♦K♣ flop, improving to a set. The 4♠ on the turn gave McFarland outs to a gutshot, but the 10♥ on the river saw the pot being pushed Woodbury's way.
Will Anderson raised to 8,000 in early position and Louis Anderson three-bet shoved in the cutoff for 40,500, putting himself at risk. He was quickly called and the cards were turned on their backs.
Louis Anderson: A♥Q♦
Will Anderson: J♠J♦
The board ran out K♠5♦9♠9♦A♦, with Louis Anderson pairing his ace on the river to keep his tournament hopes alive.
