A new batch of hopefuls and returning players firing another bullet will get their shot at chasing the championship bracelet when Day 1b of the Roughrider Poker Tour $635 Montana State Poker Championship begins at 2 p.m. local time.
The players who gather today inside the Billings Hotel & Convention Center will have their work cut out for them trying to track down chip leader Josh Brown. Brown built up a massive stack of 1,090,000 during yesterday’s opening flight, putting him far ahead of the 24 players who have already secured their spots for Day 2.

Leighton Lindsey (630,000), Josh Egle (604,000), Rick Lehman (551,000), and Keat O’Hearn (521,000) round out the top five. Others through to championship Sunday include Leonardo Valenzuela (441,000), Damon Muehl (407,000), Weston Wells (309,000), and Alex Smith (117,000).
Day 1b is the final chance for players to take a shot at the title. Players begin with a 60,000 starting stack, and blinds 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante at the beginning of the day. Levels will be 40 minutes, with a 15-minute break after every three levels. Late registration remains open until the start of Level 13, with a maximum of three entries allowed across both starting flights. The day will conclude after Level 15 or when 15 percent of the field remains, whichever comes first.
All surviving players return tomorrow for Day 2 at 11 a.m. to play down to a champion. With 141 players entering yesterday and an even bigger field expected today, the event is expected to far surpass the estimated $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.
