Fish Gets There Via Backdoor

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Brian Topp
Brian Topp

Tom Leto limped early, and Brandon Fish made it 10,500. Russell Licking called in the big blind, as did Leto. Licking led out 6,000 on an {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop. Leto folded, and Fish made it 17,000. Licking called, and both checked the {9-Hearts}. On the {6-Spades} river, Licking bet 6,000 and Fish immediately called.

Licking had {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for nines but Fish's {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs} had found a river straight.

At other tables, Brian Topp and Reggie Tynes went bust.

Sanders Eliminates Lilienthal

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Clint Lilienthal
Clint Lilienthal

Clint Lilienthal opened from an early position to 5,200 and got a call from Michael Sanders in middle position. Lilienthal bet 7,700 on the {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop and Sanders called. Lilienthal checked the {6-Spades} turn, and Sanders bet 9,000. Lilienthal called, and an {a-Clubs} arrived. Lilienthal took his time before checking and Sanders moved all in to put him at risk for about 38,000. Lilienthal mulled it over about a minute and called, and Sanders showed {5-Clubs}{5-Spades} for a set. Lilienthal had {a-Spades}{j-Spades} for top pair and Sanders took the pot.

Matt Anderson
Matt Anderson

Michael Sanders raised to 5,000 on the button and called the shove of big blind Matt Anderson.

Sanders: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Anderson: {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

The board ran out {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Sanders scored the early knockout.

At another table, Shaun Burnett lost a race for all of his chips.

Welcome to Day 2 of RunGood Poker Series Council Bluffs

Justin Gardenhire
Justin Gardenhire

Two days of play at RunGood Council Bluffs have seen a field of 144 players pared to just 26. Today, one of those 26 will claim a first-place prize of $40,320 and a memorial plaque on the traveling RunGood Champions Cup.

Each of the two Day 1 flights reached a hard stop with 13 players left. Day 1b got there much earlier, and play will resume late in Level 13 (1,000/2,000/300) with about two minutes left on the clock. As with Day 1, all of the levels today will be 40 minutes long as part of the new, longer tournament structure.

Tom Leto is the man to catch early on as he bagged 328,800 in his fiery Day 1b run, good for a wide lead over second-place Russell Licking (240,500). RunGood Pros Justin Gardenhire (213,500), Michael Sanders (165,500), and Ryan Tepen (133,700) also remain in contention. The latter has taken down two RunGood events within the past year, including the RunGood Cup Championship.

Cards are scheduled to fly at 11 a.m. local time here in Council Bluffs, so stay tuned here on PokerNews to see who takes the first ever $1,100 Main Event on RunGood Poker Series.
