Craig Dick Only Has One Gear

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Craig Dick
Craig Dick

Chip leader Craig Dick is well known to give a lot of action, and tonight is no exception. Add to that a better-than-average run of hole cards and Dick has been involved in more all-in bets than most.

Now sitting on a stack of 282,000, Dick has both collected and given up a dozen buy-ins worth of chips in the past two levels. With a stack of over 200,000 in Level 8, Dick held {q-}{q-} against Shannon Scott's {a-}{k-} when the two got it all in preflop. Scott came out on top to double-up through the chip leader.

A few hands later, Dick got it in with {8-}{8-} against another player's {k-}{k-} and came from behind to once again pull away from the field.

Second break

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The players are taking their second and final 15-minute break. When they return, the blinds will increase to 600/1200 with a 1200 ante.

Kennedy Flops Big

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Mike Kennedy
Mike Kennedy

Mike Kennedy opened the pot from middle position for 3,000 and the action folded back to the blinds, who both called. The dealer spread a flop of {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and the blinds checked to Kennedy, who continued for 5,500.

The player in the small blind asked, "How much?" and then moved all-in for around 13,000. Daniel Yi in the big blind got out of the way and Kennedy quickly called.

Kennedy: {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Small Blind: {a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}

Kennedy held top two pair against the small blind's top pair-no kicker. Only running deuces could save the hand for the small blind.

The turn brought the smallest of sweats when the {2-Clubs} hit the felt, but the river iwa the {k-Hearts} and Kennedy sent the small blind to the rail.

Craig Dick Takes a Comfortable Lead

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Craig Dick
Craig Dick

On the last hand of Level 7, Craig Dick knocked out a player and extended his chip lead over the field. Craig opened for 3,000 from under-the-gun and the action folded back to the small blind.

The player in the small blind three-bet to 15,500, with around 25,000 left behind.

Craig had a stack of around 110,000 to start the hand and decided to see a flop.

The flop came {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and the player in the small blind immediately moved all-in. Dick quickly called and the hands were turned up.

Small Blind: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Dick: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Dick was well ahead and had to dodge his opponent's two outs to take down the sizeable pot. The turn brought the {k-Spades}, improving Dick to two pair. The board completed with the {3-Hearts} on the river to end the hand.

With five levels still to go in the flight, and the action heavy and constant, Dick's lead is comfortable but by no means secure.

Taylor Gets Back to Starting Stack

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Travis Taylor
Travis Taylor

Travis Taylor's first entry into Flight A didn't go well, but the Springfield, Missouri resident wasn't ready to call it quits and re-entered. At the start of this hand, his chips had dwindled to half a starting stack.

Seat 7 raised to 2,000 from middle position and Seat 3 called on the button. Travis Taylor then three-bet all in for 8,900 and Seat 3 quickly called. The button got out of the way and the hands were turned up.

Taylor: {a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Seat 7: {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The dealer ran out the board of {8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, and Taylor collected a much-needed double up.

Scott Takes It Without a Showdown

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Shannon Scott
Shannon Scott

In the closing minutes of Level 5, a huge pot was played between Shannon Scott and Nick Burris.

Burris opened for 1,000 in the hijack and Scott three-bet to 3,000 from the cutoff. The action folded back to Burris, who four-bet to 9,000. Scott considered what to do and then called. Both players started the hand with roughly even stacks of around 45,000 each.

The dealer spreads a flop of {7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Burris continued for 8,000. Scott called fairly quickly and the dealer turned the {10-Spades}. Burris reached for chips and bet 13,000, having around 20,000 behind.

Scott went into the tank, checked his hole cards, and after half a minute of thought, moved all in for 31,100. It was then Burris's turn to go into the tank. He counted down his remaining chips as he considered whether to put his tournament at risk.

In the end, he pushed his cards toward the muck and Scott took down a huge pot.
