Day 1a Completed

Craig Dick Bags Day 1A Chip Lead (full)

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Day 1A Chip Leader Craig Dick
Day 1A Chip Leader Craig Dick

After a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, Craig Dick managed to recover from a series of losses to bag the most chips (309,000) at the end of the RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) Downstream Day 1a flight, which drew 83 entrants.

Second in chips among the advancing 12 players is William McCracken, who came on strong in the last few levels to bag 265,500, while Shannon Scott amassed most of his stack by Level 8 and simply held onto them through the end of play.

Others to bag and tag were Matt Bond (181,500), Mike Tang (117,500), Bart Bogard (52,500), and the short-stacked Daniel Lowery.

Among those to play and fall on 1a were Grant Hinkle, Mike Kennedy, Mike Klatt, Mason Hinkle, Mark Martin, RGPS Council Bluffs champ Nick Burris, and Mike Marne.

Marne fell in the penultimate level of the night when Lowery opened the pot for 5,000 and Marne moved all in for around 16,000 next-to-act. Everyone else folded and Lowery called.

Lowery: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
Marne: {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

"That's about the best I could ask for with this hand," Marne said after seeing that he has two overcards to Lowery's pocket pair. Unfortunately for him, the board ran out {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{6-Hearts} and Marne hit the rail.9

Day 1b kicks off at Noon Saturday with Day 1c scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday evening. The twelve Day 1a survivors will join the remaining players from the other two flights for Day 2 at Noon on Sunday to play down to a champion.

Twelve Players Advance From Flight A

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

We'll bring you the updated chip counts shortly, but 12 players from Flight A have punched their tickets to Day 2.

Steve Pankey was eliminated on the last hand before the bags came out. Pankey got it all in with {8-}{8-} against Clyde Lorance's {9-}{9-}. Lorance improved to trips with a third nine on the river.

Chad Samuel was almost eliminated when his flopped set of fours fell behind Craig Dick's turned set. Dick, Samuel, and Daniel Lowery all saw a flop of {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Samuel was all in before the flop and both his opponents checked the flop.

The {10-Clubs} hit the turn and Lowery checked to Dick, who bet enough to put Lowery all-in. Lowery flashed an ace as he folded and the hole cards were turned up.

Dick: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Samuel: {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}

Samuel would need the board to stay alive and pair it did when the {q-Spades} hit the river.
