Flight A of the RGPS Downstream Main Event Kicks Off at 7 p.m. Local Time
Welcome to the latest stop of the RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) “Showbound” season!
We're at Downstream Casino and Resort in Joplin, Missouri for this weekend $575 buy-in, $100K GTD Main Event, which kicks off tonight at 7 p.m. with Flight A. Flights B and C will take place on Saturday at Noon and 7 p.m. respectively. The surviving players from all flights will then return for Day 2 at Noon on Sunday and play down to a winner.
Located less than three hours from Kansas City, Downstream’s Pavilion Event Center is playing host to a series of side events and satellites leading up to the Showbound Main Event.
Throughout the 2019 RGPS Showbound Season, powered by PokerGO, players have the chance to win invitations to compete in a season-ending invite-only freeroll satellite at Hard Rock Tulsa for a pair of $5,000 Sit & Go seats to be on Poker After Dark in Las Vegas. Packages include an “airfare and hotel” travel stipend (Must be 21 to participate in the freeroll satellite, invitations are non-transferable, limited to one invitation and seat per player.)
To receive an invite, all you need to do is win any RGPS Showbound side event or final able any Main Event. “Showbound Powered by PokerGO” will encourage tournament participants at all tour stops to dress to impress and walk the crimson carpet on their way to the poker table.
Several players received invitations in the RGPS Council Bluffs stop earlier this month. It was there that Nick Burris, AKA Re-Burris because of his home game rebuy record, came out on top of a 399-entry field to win a $44,767 first-place prize. Others to cash that stop’s Main were MSPT champ Travis Gant (2nd - $27,664), Blair Hinkle (11th - $3,427), and Julie Cornelius (30th - $1,274), just to name a few.

Main Event Details
Each Day 1 flight will see players start with 20,000 in chips and play a dozen 30-minute levels. Levels switch to 45 minutes on Day 2. Players are allowed to enter or reenter the event until the start of Level 9. A 15-minute break will be taken after every four levels.

Flight A of the RGPS Showbound Main Event is underway in the Pavilion Event Center at Downstream Casino Resort. The RGPS last visited Downstream in December, where Simon Webster (pictured) overcame a venue-record field of 386--and a strong heads-up battle against RG Ambassador Daniel Lowery--to capture the Main Event trophy and $44,391.
Twelve 30-minute levels are all that stand between the players and a ticket to Day 2 on Sunday. Players begin with 20,000 chips and have an unlimited re-entry option and late registration open until the start of Level 9 (approximately 11:30 pm). A full structure sheet can be found here.

The Main Event is underway with 34 players in the field and more are steadily trickling in. The 4 p.m. satellite tournament is on the bubble with nine players in contention for eight seats in the Main Event. The player who bubbles will take home $460 as a consolation prize--just shy of the $575 ME buyin.

WIN YOUR WAY ONTO POKER AFTER DARK
Throughout the 2019 RGPS Showbound season, tournament participants will have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to play on an upcoming episode of the legendary series “Poker After Dark.” Preliminary event winners and players who reach the final table of main events will receive a reserved seat in a freeroll satellite at the Hard Rock Tulsa for two $5,000 Sit & Go seats and the high roller experience of a lifetime at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.

RGPS Downstream Champion Mark Martin takes his seat

RGPS Main Event champion Mark Martin (pictured) has taken his seat in Friday's Day 1 flight as he tries to add to his RunGood resumé. The Baxter, Kansas resident took down the RGPS ME at Downstream in October 2014, outlasting a field of 262 runners to win $36,218. Martin had a handful of final tables in 2018 and is looking to start 2019 strong.

Hinkles Bring Their Home Game

Grant and Mason Hinkle have a Kansas City home game nicknamed "Monday Night Poker," which includes game regulars Paul Strohm, Craig Dick, and Jim Indiveri, among others.
The Hinkles have been seated side-by-side at Table 29, but they won't have the spotlight to themselves. Also at their table are RG Ambassador Daniel Lowery (6 WSOPC rings), Bart Bogard (2 WSOPC rings), and last night's $165 6-max winner Nic Petree ($4,337). Mike Tang finished second to Mark Martin in the Main Event in 2014, and William Scarsdale made the final table of the inaugural RGPS at Downstream in March 2014.
