Ethan Gilbert Wins a Big One

Five players limped to the {k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop.

The under-the-gun player led for 400 and Gilbert called. The small blind raised to 2,100. The first player folded and Gilbert called.

The turn was the {j-Spades} and the small blind shoved for about 40,000. Gilbert called and had {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} against the {6-Clubs}{2-Hearts} of the small blind.

The river was the {j-Hearts} and Gilbert won the hand with quad jacks and eliminated the player in the small blind.

Teresa Griffith Finding the New Normal

Teresa Griffith
Teresa Griffith

Teresa Griffith is playing poker for the first time in years. She stopped playing for a while and has returned in search of what she called the '"new normal."

Griffith is from Eureka Springs, AR.

Her husband passed away a few years ago and she says that is why she's started playing poker again.

Griffith says she forgot how much she enjoyed it and, if it were up to her, she'd play all the time.

When she's not playing she's selling things on Amazon.

This is her second bullet in the RGPS main event.

She won her first seat in a satellite, so she's playing for a discount at the moment. She's off to a good start today with almost three times starting stack.

Eldon Penn Shoves

The board read {a-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Jim Traber checked. The player in the big blind shoved for about 13,500 and Eldon Penn shoved for slightly more — 15,700.

Traber took a moment, then folded.

Penn had {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} against the {q-Spades}{j-Spades} of the big blind.

The turn was the {4-Clubs} and the river was the {3-Diamonds} and Penn won the hand with a pair of aces. The big blind headed to the rail after missing his flush draw.

Traber said he folded {a-}{9-}.
